almost all of the OC and DC that have left bama have done so for HC positions. this lateral move doesnt seem to make much sense.

It's infinitely easier to have the #1 defense when the offense revolves around Derrick Henry wasting the clock (and keeping the score closer) compared to having a pass first 50 points a game offense.

If Bama had the #1 defense with this offense, Golding would have done the greatest job in the history of college football.

That doesn't mean he's a genius or anything, but it's ridiculous to expect the defense the last 2 years to be as good as it was back in the run-first days.

Dennis Dodd is saying Georgia defensive coordinator Dan Lanning a favorite to take same job at Texas under Steve Sarkisian

Not sure what voodoo Sark is using, but he is checking in on DC from all over the SEC

that's because coaching under Saban is usually a springboard to a better job.

You do realize coaches all over the country would jump at the chance to coach under Saban. They learn, they win, and they move up.

Of course they do. I never said otherwise. People do lots of unpalatable things to further their careers.

But when they have a chance to get out, even for a lateral job, they leave. It happens every year.

I saw that Texas is going after UGA's DC. They want everyone.

Will make it impossible for LSU or Oregon to pull Schullman then. He would get promoted to full time DC at UGA

I remember a group of former Saban assistant coaches were interviewed in an article about working for Nick. Derrick Dooley said it best... Its like going in the military. You kiss your family goodbye, you do a couple yrs, and you get out.

so it's "unpalatable" to work for the best college coach in history, work with 5-star players, and win championships?

And I don't see Bama coaches leaving for lateral jobs, unless Saban has told them to move on. Coaches can build their resume with continuing success under Saban.

I believe this is the case everywhere in today’s College Football. The days of a smothering defense are behind us.

Yes. Coaches do it, because it's good for their careers. No one likes working for Saban.

Sark is taking several coaches right now.

That's a mighty convenient caveat. Everyone that leaves is told to move on. That's an unproveable statement.

yea, but Kyle Flood got a promotion (from OL coach at Bama to OC at Texas). And Jeff Banks got a big pay increase for the same job at UT.

It's just plain false that assistant coaches flee Alabama for anything other than a promotion or more money.

How long can you work UNDER Saban. He is a total prick and calls you out on national television. It is all about him.

Jeff banks is from texas and is making more money.

I think people get sick of the pressure and also, its a new challenge.

Sark probably sold him on bigger responsibility. Same with kyle flood. Notice nick saban already had his backup lined up. Flood came to bama with sark

Why wouldn't he leave with him?

jeez, man, it’s not a caveat. If another employer offers you a lot more money for the same job, you usually take it.

It has little to do with your boss at your old job.

Coaches aren’t fleeing Alabama. In fact, i’d argue it’s the opposite.
