Myer basket case - mental nut job.
Rhule - a one and done & back to the NFL. Then we would be back where we are now. - Do not want

can't believe these 2 are on the list, plus we don't have the bread to pay these guys. They would be horribly overpaid

Aranda makes the most sense off this list. We should have promoted him 5 years ago instead of O. Should have done the same thing with Jimbo 15 years ago.

I don't know if Rhule wants out of carolina or not but if it does go sideways for him there I don't think he goes back to the NFL. The guy has proven on several occasions that he is a success at the college level. He wanted to try the NFL. That is a damn good franchise there, we not talking about Detroit or the Jets. He doesn't succeed in Carolina he won't try again.

Shiny hook with the OP and then you posted this and the fish turned away.

This did not happen.

ANY and EVERY agent worth a damn has reached out to LSU. Even if the SOLE purpose of those communications is to try to leverage the LSU opening to get his client a new/better contract at his current school. In the marketplace every AD knows the LSU job is HIGHLY desirable for at least two reasons: (1) A coach can win championships here (there are only a handful of schools who can realistically say that) and (2) LSU is willing to pay a huge salary most schools would be very reluctant to meet or exceed. So if you hear a rumor that "(insert coach here) has potential interest", he should. The LSU job, in addition to being a great job, is also a great leverage opportunity.

quote:

Urban Myer, Chris Peterson, Dave Aranda, MATT CAMPBELL, Matt Ruhle.

Not surprising. One of these guys has a relationship with Woodward (Peterson) and is available immediately. Which is even more advantageous in the world of the early signing period and unrestricted transfering. Another one is one of only two active coaches who have won 3 National Championships (Meyer). He's a lifelong college guy that may be quickly finding out (or by this point, conclusively knows) the NFL is just not for him. There is a guy in Tuscaloosa, AL who figured that out and returned to college. He's done just fine since. There is also another guy (Rhule) who may be in the same boat, but who has less of a championship pedigree. Still, I think Rhule is just empty talk. The Panthers owner made a HUGE commitment to him, and he is only in year 2.

Aranda is obviously the comfortable choice. He knows LSU better than everyone else and could probably transition into the job seamlessly. Campbell is someone who had had success at a tough place to win and is thought of as someone who grinds to do things the "right way".

Many don't want to hear it or accept it. But the only potential "slash" hire is Meyer. No other coach can match his resume. Does he have his issues? Yes (known as being disingenuous. Has "burned out" at his last stops under the relentless pressure). But if you told LSU fans the next HC will only stay 6 years. But in those six years LSU will be in the playoffs at least 3 times; win at least one NC (potentially more). EVERYONE here would take it...even if they are pontificating against Meyer currently and in the past.

Updated Coaches' List for LSU search in no particular order:
Nick Saban, Dabo Swinney, Lincoln Riley, Ryan Day, Brian Kelly, Jimbo Fisher, Kirby Smart, Pat Fitzgerald, Matt Campbell, Dan Mullen, Mack Brown, James Franklin, Kyle Whittingham, Mike Gundy, Mario Cristobal, Kirk Ferentz, Paul Chryst, Tom Allen, Herm Edwards, Mark Stoops, Jim Harbaugh, David Shaw, P.J. Fleck, Urban Meyer, Matt Rhule, Joe Brady, Mike Tomlin, Billy Napier, Sean Payton, Lane Kiffin, Vince Lombardi, Bear Bryant

I think that about covers it!

Whoa, look out guys. “I don’t have to be literate, I’m RICH!” I’m sure the board meetings are neat when your secretary has to read all the documents to you in front of boosters. GTFOH
