I'm baffled that Texas' pockets aren't as deep as Bama's.

The Pope apparently buried more money under the Vatican than McCombs thought.

Is that the company line?

They didn't want Saban anyways?

Their pockets are deeper. However there was never an offer, because there was never an opening. A few Texas boosters with big dicks tried to fire Mack and failed. The same big dicks thought they could get Saban after Mack was gone. They tripped over their own dicks.

They are much deeper but Saban told y'all to get fricked and he proved once and for all that he can't be bought when he's in the right place! He is at the football Mecca!

I think this was it. I'd add Mack knew Red and Jameil had his back after he launched countermeasures. They also werent going to let the power grab just happen

Oil money or no oil money Texass wasn't going to pay Saban $10M year or give him any part of LHN. That was always an ignorant assertion.

They can't just write a blank check. Texass is a public institution and the Board of Regents would have to approve a salary like that. The bad pubilicity from paying a football coach more than any other coach in college or pros would have precluded that from happening.

Too much baggage with that type of salary not to mention tuition going up every year... basically a PR nightmare.

Bama at $7M tells you Saban never had an offer close to $10M, IF... and I mean IF... he ever had an offer at all from anyone at Texass that had the authority to make an offer. Not convinced he ever had a real offer. They have a coach so there was no position open.

Well whatever happened Texas pockets are MUCH deeper than Alabama. The one thing Alabama will spend money on is a football coach though.

How do you know a job was ever actually offered and, if offered, how do you know it wasn't more than Bama gave but he still turned it down?

Mack Brown is fighting tooth and nail to hang onto his job for one more year so he could try to surpass DKR's win record. This is all about him and his legacy. This will net them more years of mediocre football.

I feel sorry for my UT buddies. They are pissed.

You can't accept a position that isn't open.
