FIFY. That's the minimum, as it should be.

No, no one will come off the cliff until O proves he can win consistently and put a real, threatening offense out on the field.

Right now all we have is a head coach with a career losing record that hasn't done anything Miles wouldn't have. The offensive "explosion" shouldn't shock anybody, it's like everyone forgot last season's 7-0 start and we were breaking offensive records with Fournette while we beat up on awful teams.

I'm worried myself because top notch OCs are few and far between. Everyone says that they will come to LSU for money but as we've seen many times, money is not everything to these guys. And the top notch ones will most likely be getting head coaching jobs very soon.

O is a fantastic recruiter, but you know what? He has to compete with Saban, Kirby Smart, and several others that like to pick recruits from our area.

This is O's big chance and I sincerely hope he succeeds. Our administration fricked this up massively and if this doesn't work out we could become the next Tennessee.

Nope. O and the new OC have to prove that they can put a competent LSU offense on the field with good QB play before I will ever come down off the cliff.

Well we fired our coach cause he couldnt get us into the elite category we thought we should be in.

So thats my bar for O. Elite. Now i think he has about a 2% chance of getting there so i will stand firmly on the edge of cliff.

Why should anyone back off the cliff until he proves he can win the SEC? That's the standard...if it was not the standard, then Miles should not have been fired.

As we sit here today, we have a new coach with a career losing record that would not have been hired as a head coach at any SEC school.

We have an elite DC. We hope to hire an elite OC. Even supporters of this hire admit that O is not an elite coach...they hope he will hire elite staff and let them coach.

Think about that...

The standard is SEC championships and playoff appearances....nothing less.

If he doesn't accomplish this in three years, he and Alleva should be gone. Period.

O didn't do anything wrong. I don't see a reason to melt and personally hate O. Joe is the one that failed at his job. The goal post keep moving for each melt from omg texas is going to steal dave to stupid shite like ensminger being the oc which isn't happening.

Getting Ponamsky on board, playing political games, etc.

O did plenty wrong, he schemed his way into the position, and is probably lying about the whole "dream job" thing.

Granted, it worked, so well done on that, but O isn't innocent just because he fooled our administration into the decision.

And well, if Kiffin was in the binder, then takes another job....his plan is then also a lie. I don't think Kiffin is the best hire anyways, but that's not the point. If O sold himself with Kiffin on board, and can't close that, what does that say about the rest of his plan? We didn't hire O because he's an offensive or defensive genius. We hired O for consistency and because he would "bring in the best hires." If he can't do what he proposed....that doesn't bode well for the future.

The case for Ensminger for OC-

1.It's his dream job
2.He is in fact one of us (LSU QB 1976-1979)
3.He has improved since his last OC job- breaking offensive LSU records during his current tenure
4.He was a position coach prior to interim OC,and a noted recruiter (primary for current starters Maea Teuhema, Tre White, Desean Smith, DJ Chark) Secondary for Jamal Adams and Devin White.

If this line of logic applies to our recent HC hire, why not OC as well?

this... all he did was get out of the way... not like he had to do anything, he was given the damn keys to a ferrari.. we were a preseason top 3 team for crying out loud, but the idiots on this board thought he was Methuselah because we actually completed a few forward passes.. its insane..

I would agree.

And, I'll go further. If Orgeron goes out and is capable of showing he's able to make a quality hire that's not already in his pocket (Kiffin), then I'll have a lot more confidence that this program is not as at risk as I currently think it is.

He can prove a lot to me with this hire.

LOL, I'm laughing to myself here at work. I can't believe what we actually hired here.

We hired someone that lets his coaches coach. They could've saved a ton of money and gone down to Price LeBlanc Toyota, hired their best salesman and made that guy HC. He certainly would've let the coaches coach. Car salesmen and recruiters, it's the same damn skill set.

It's like a bad dream. I remember right after miles got fired one of my buddies suggested O could get the job personally and we all died laughing and roasted him for a few days for saying it ..... It's not nearly so funny right now.

Depends on the audience. Other fan bases are laughing their asses off over big time LSU hiring a DL coach who was a complete failure the last time he had full of an SEC football program.
