Linehan was brought on to secure Nussmeir.
This is completely false. Like think of something really false, and this is falser than that.
No school is hiring a coordinator to secure one recruit.

During a recent interview with 104.5 (FM) ESPN Baton Rouge and 100.3 (FM) ESPN New Orleans morning show “Off the Bench,” Garrett Nussmeier pointed out a Vandal connection at LSU that might have provided the ultimate nudge — first-year Tigers passing-game coordinator Scott Linehan.
“(He) was my dad’s offensive coordinator at the University of Idaho, and you know, is a good family friend of ours,” Nussmeier said of Linehan, a UI quarterback from 1982-86 and the father of recent Idaho standout quarterback Matt Linehan. Scott Linehan was a two-stint Vandals coach, heading the receiving corps from 1989-90 before two seasons as the offensive coordinator from 1992-93.
So you still think my statement is false considering Nuss himself mentions him as being a reason he ultimately chose lsu?

Of course I knew that. Still doesn’t make it true.
If you’re hiring a coordinator to get a recruit, it better be a Joe Burrow. Otherwise you could lose your job and never even see the recruit play.

I agree we sure hire Freeman but why is everyone obsessed with giving out ridiculous contracts
I don’t think he accepts less than 3.

Wrong

it wasn't the sole reason but a big one. You know that his dad and Linehan are close friends right?
If it’s that big of a deal why doesn’t Nuss just enter the transfer portal then? Since his dads “close friend” got canned after a year and all?

He’s wasn’t a coordinator, despite the semantics.
I don’t think he was hired solely because of Nussmeier, but I think the connection to that family was likely considered. We saw what a difference having an ace QB made last year with Burrow and once we knew Willams wasn’t coming after Brady left, I think the staff felt they had to go all-in to insure they got Nuss.
That said, I still don’t think it was a good decision to hire Linehan. The results obviously weren’t there.

Take the big contract to his wife, she will accept.

Because it isn't the only reason he came here. Linehan was there to help seal the deal. They knew they had to go all in on a great qb with Williams off the table and they knew linehan would help get him to LSU. It wasn't the only reason he was hired but it was 100% part of the factors that led to his hire.

There isn't a single coordinator that makes above $2.5. he's not getting $3. Not until he proves himself at a bigger school/conference.

I don’t think Brady was connected to Ed

Brady worked for the Saints, which is where O seems to be fond of looking to for new coaches. Ensminger went there to learn the rpo. Brady ended up impressing E and E recommended him to O.
I mean I am not saying anything crazy. Most head coaches hire people they know or have worked with before or they come recommended by someone that coach trusts.
Like I said, I hope I am wrong but based on his history he has typically hired someone with Louisiana ties, someone he worked with previously, or a mentor recommended the coach. Is there a connection between O and Freeman that falls in to one of those categories? I don't know of one. Maybe someone else like Woodward will intervene and push Freeman on O regardless but I don't see that working out well long term.

Sark just got a raise to 2.5+ but I agree with what you said.

This is bullshite. You really think they hired these guys without O's input? You're pretty fricking stupid if you think this. O is just as guilty as Woody for those hires.

He’s gone down that road, he better have learned from it or he’ll be the next coach being talked about and who his replacement is.

I’m just telling you what known insiders on multiple sites are saying.
