full-time, what does that mean for Chris Garrett? Also, does Shep move back to QB and compete?

I'm not against this if true--yes, it's a gamble, but it could pay off pretty huge. And Miles has kinda put himself in a position where he needs to take chances. The natives are restless(though most are fricking retarded).

Shep is done at QB. Would only move back in an emergency.

I take it that as he was hired to be the passing coordinator at this point, we intend to pass...so that is probably good for Garrett and JJ. Crowton is the short side of the field option coordinator, which is good for the defense

Yeah he can be our option QB that always runs. And Garrett the option QB that always throws.

Carl you know the actual spread is a "pass to set up the run" offense don't you? What UF ran with Tebow is not really the spread, it is more like the single wing with a QB that can't throw for shite. The spread that LSU would run would be a gold mine of passing opportunities for Jefferson/Garrett with Shep playing the Harvin type role.

That being said, trusting a QB that can throw slants and crossing routes is a must and was a major part of the problem with the offense this year as Crowton did everything he could to keep JJ from making middle of the field throws

I doubt very seriously that the guy is going to be our new OC.

I dont - it's just a title, who knows what his true capacity will be.

He should be the "Time-Outs Coordinator"

can't agree with that assessment. tebow was not a pure passer for the drop back pocket offense, and didn't have a huge gun for an arm, but he was very accurate.

I do, but the Utah/Florida QBs had to be able to run a little bit too. I was under the impression Garrett was a drop-back/pro-style QB. I'm sure we could spread the field and have him throw a bunch of slants and stuff without him having to run too much, though. It just seems like a 1-deminsional QB would take a little bit away from what you can do. Though, that's exactly what RS would be.

If I remember correctly, he gained about 8 yards on a zone-read keeper during the spring game. Surprised everyone around me that he appeared to have decent quickness. Hopefully Crowton's "QB-Sweep but pitch if you're about to get tackled" option is a thing of the past.

Regardless of what happens, I hope the QB spot is open for competition come the spring. I like Jefferson, but he did nothing this year to automatically cement the job for the next 2 seasons.

you must not have been watching him for the last four years as he constantly threw behind receivers

because they have QBs that can

TTU runs the full blown spread and their QBs NEVER run

just depends on what your philosophy is and what your personnel are capable of

Jefferson is going to be great with the proper coaching. Garrett will be great in 2 years after JJ has dominated.

BG would not make a lateral move to LSU without some gravy in it for him. He will be replacing Crowton and that is music to my ears.

We will look different on offense next year and utilize our talent and score way more points. BOOK IT>

Who is to say that Garrett and Shep aren't used ala Leak and Tebow....let Garrett run the offense and pass and bring Shep in to run with the occasional fake run then pass.

Personally, I want us to go to a pro-style offense. There is a reason why the pro teams don't run the spread with QB's doing a excessive amount of running.

Agreed, but I hope experience will help him read defenses, progressions etc. He was not the star this yr all the flute players were predicting this time last year.
