**Note; kinda out dated with Stein listed

Personally, if Mullen is even a possibility you make that your top priority

Dan mullen?

Memphis should jump on that.

Huff would be another good hire.

Norvell is on there too.

I hope Tulane is also looking at him. I know that the knock on him was he didn't like to recruit but I wonder if having a GM now and being able to pay players has made that a non issue.

This. . Plus, I'm not sure what the difference is between those two programs, realistically. Someone can fill that blank for me if I'm off base, but is Memphis really a better job than where he is now?

Meh, kind of a coin flip right now. UNLV is going to be left behind in the Mountain West though with like half the conference going to the new PAC. Plus UNLV is supposedly broke and there are rumors they cant pay their coaches. Memphis currently has a lot of momentum with a ton of money being pumped in with hopes of getting out of the G5 one day. Hasnt resulted in on the field/court success though.

Memphis is a FAR better job right now in all respects but location. The American has been the best of the G5 leagues for a while and Memphis, USF, NT, and Tulane spend more in NIL than anyone else.

Specifically for Memphis, the Liberty Bowl is getting a $250 million facelift competed this summer and they have the backing of FedEx for NIL and to try any get into a better conference. They also have low P4 level football facilities that smoke most of the G5. They have been consistently winning for a decade now after being a mediocre job for the previous 30 years.

Based on the results Fuente and Norvell posted compared to Silverfield, that was 100% a coaching issue. Recruiting and talent (on a G5 level) have not been the issue there.

I have no idea what the frick Arkansas was thinking hiring him.

You say this and then list all of the reasons that UNLV has been an up and coming but never get there job for the last 20 years.

Memphis is a far better job today in terms of building a consistent winner and competing for the playoffs.

Memphis should absolutely hire Mullen if they can, but the guy at KSU can definitely coach, as well. Unfortunately they were a year too early to get Norvell back.

Malachi odds are retarded. They aren’t real odds. I could put Andy Reid on there and some people would bet it.

Honestly? I have absolutely zero faith in the Memphis administration. Call it battered fan syndrome or just the life of a G5 school/fan. What we currently have can easily slip through our fingers and we've seen it happen in the past. All of the top tier American schools just lost their coaches and could easily regress to their means. FedEx is committed publicly for a few years and supposedly quietly for a few more after that. With Fred Smith passing its only a matter of time before that well dries up. After that, there arent a bastion of high roller alums to foot the bills and our fan base is probably one of the most wishy washy in the country. Dont win? Wont support it. Unfortunately we dont have the luxury of being able to have a bad 5-10 year stretch like p4 schools.

Long story short, everything we have is held together with duct tape and hope and could come crashing down at any second just like UNLV. Love my school, love my team but its a life of just waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Mullen at Memphis could be interesting.

He's a very lazy recruiter but the FedEx war chest could help with that.

Makes sense. Thanks for the information.

Mack would be an intriguing hire because he took Kennesaw State from 2 wins to the C-USA title game in his first season.

From what I recall reading in the preseason, they also returned most of their starters from last year's team, so it's not like he just overturned the roster through the portal. He coached up what they had.

Mack being from Memphis doesn't hurt either.

Meh. I grew up in Memphis also following these Tigers. It’s not the same as it was before Fuente. Even a coach as limited as Silverfield has been able to win at a decent clip and he’s nothing special at all. A good coach will win the AAC and compete for a playoff spot.

With the changing landscape of college football, realignment, and the money behind the program and new stadium, I feel like it’s a matter of time before an AAC or Big 12 invite happens. There just aren’t that many viable programs left in the G5. Memphis has to stay in that group and hold out for the next round of moves.
