I'd throw the bank at Petersen before Herman

Yeah. I know. He loves the NW.
But. I do wonder. He makes $3.5m there. We can obviously trump that.

People threw way more than $3.5 at him to leave Boise and he wouldn't.
He is a man who values quality of life over money.

It won't happen. I'd love it too. But it just won't. There are personal reasons he's there. There are things that trump money.

After like the 10th Power 5 offer. He went to the only job he wanted more than Boise.

Not happening. It took him forever to leave Boise St. and he's only been there 1-2 yrs. Obviously not a HC to hop around all over. Too, how well could a life time NW'er recruit in N.O. and Houston?

And everyone here in Boise knew that he was gone the minute the UW job opened for him. He openly discussed this with boosters and alumni up here. He truly is at his dream job. His kid is with one of the best doctors in the country to help with his special needs. He would turn down Saban money to stay in Seattle, where his family and his wifes family are from.

He was turning down top jobs to stay in Boise, Idaho. No way he leaves UW.

Per ESPN in Dec 2013 on Petersen moving to UW;
• His older son Jack is now in college. His younger son Sam, whose health issues as a small boy helped keep Petersen in Boise, not only fully recovered, but will start high school next year. It's a good time to make the transition.
ETA: Not saying he would leave Seattle, just pointing out the fact that I don't think people are aware that his son no longer needs that type of medical attention.

Absolutely, if he's the guy, make him say no.

You do realize that the dr. his son was going to for the tumor/head injury was in Seattle, right? Its literally an hour and 5 minute flight to Seattle from here. He has fully recovered although he still has to go to several checkups a year to monitor his progress. I get what you are saying but Peterson is one of the few that doesnt care about the money.

he is in the area of the country where he is happy. You could throw 15 M and I doubt he leaves. He turned down USC already. His crootin roots are on the west coast.

I keep hearing that but I don't think it is correct. If it is about his son who battled brain cancer when was 18months old, I think that could be way off base. Seattle is not known for it's cancer research or medical care in cancer or pediatric cancer. I know this for a fact because my son is in the middle of his battle with brain cancer. In fact being in Baton Rouge, if his son's battle with brain cancer is a big part of the decision, is actually better than being in Seattle because at this point in time MD Anderson is thought of as the Cancer Capital in the United States.
Also, Peterson is from California so to my knowledge he doesn't have ties the Seattle area.
I am trying to see where everyone continues to get this connection that is so strong to UW but I can't find it.

You could justifiably offer him $5M.
The man has a serious track record.

He turned down MUCH better jobs than Washington (in its pre-him state) for YEARS before he went there. ADs almost quit trying to pry him away from Boise when he finally left.
He saw how previous Boise coaches got Tboned in their next gig so he waited until it was his dream job.

One of the advantages of firing Les so early is we have time to have these informal conversations with agents. I am sure Joe knows the deal. No need to make a formal offer if he's definitely not interested. And I don't think he is. Of course he could feign interest to get a raise like every other hot name coach does.
