I don't want an athletic department that overrides head coach staffing decisions. I want our athletic department to give all the tools necessary to the head coach for him to be successful in how he feels fit. We're are one fricked up school if we're making a board of directors or an AD having the final call on a coordinator.

My point is that, its the head coach's own job on the line. Let him hire whom he feel is needed for his team to be most successful. Nobody has a more vested interest in the success of that person than he himself.

If this leads to your own demise, so be it. That's the bed he made. At least he can't say, "well they wouldn't let me do it my way" and point fingers.

Yeah but the problem is Alleva’s job is tied to O’s success.

Alleva put himself in that position by making that stupid hire literally no other AD would make.

Good post.
I hope he hires the guy he thinks can help him keep his job and not just a guy he knows he can control.

Well, if they would hire a competent head coach then maybe they wouldn't have to police all his hires. This is all on the admins for allowing Ed Orgeron to be hired in the first place.

That’s the way it use to be, until tweedle Dee and tweedle dumb (FKA and JA) were placed into office! football has taken a back seat to everything else. You have a president that only care about academics right fully so, but what is lost that a high profile football team helps with school visibility ensures helps with academic. The AD is more about Cashing in on what previous Admin have built. Nothing is going to change until those guy are gone! In all honesty do you want JA picking another head coach.

I do too. That's why we need a different HC because we can't trust the current one to make the right hire.

this is the bed he made as well. he needs to sit back and let O do his job now. i can't tolerate Alleva wiggling his way into head coaching decisions because his own arse is on the line. his arse was on the line when he made this hire last year and this is what he has to ride out.

Exactly - If this hire goes south, it will be like a line of dominoes falling over, and they know it.

you just hate ed because he talks funny so you have some "need" to insist he is stupid and isnt a good HC

I'm not sure how you think this argument makes any sense. I was thrilled back in 1999 when the team contacted Saban to be a consultant to help them find a coach. I knew there was a chance LSU would just hire him and he was extremely well-respected as an up and coming coach.

O was sold to us as a uniter who would surround himself with elite coordinators to challenge for championships. He's an experienced position coach but a below average HC with a failed record. He was hired after our AD panicked and shut down negotiations prematurely to take the easy way out.

There is no way Orgeron will ever come close to sniffing a championship by himself. Aranda is the only elite coach on his staff and now he has pushed for one of his buddies, also a career position coach and below average OC to be promoted, breaking his promise to surround himself with elite coaches.

Seems really ironic that someone who believes a coach like O in these current circumstances will somehow contend for a championship would call me an idiot. I'm sure when LSU loses 5 games next year you'll find a way to blame the refs or the bad fans who leave at halftime as preventing LSU from winning championships. It's just inexplicable how Saban wins championships and guys like Orgeron don't, isn't it?

We don’t have nor did we hire our current HC on that premise.

Not that I disagree, but that is not what O sold to Alleva and what Alleva sold to the BoS and us.
