Why is this a problem for any of them? if a coordinator is good enough to move on to a HC job, then its a home run hire. Would we rather a coordinator thats just good enough to not fire, but not good enough to be wanted elsewhere? Thats the bed we have made by hiring Coach O. Only thing left is to cycle through coordinators and hope for the best. Might as well hire the best ones that are willing to come here.

You missed the point by the OP, he wants helfrich because he won't be leaving early like kiffin. Or at least that's his opinion.

To OP. You do know Sagan told bama no at first. Their AD flew to Miami and wouldn't take no for an answer. Complete 180 from ya boy Alleva

Helfrich is a terrible choice. Gilbert and Canada before Helfrich.

recently fired coach reaches out to open job....not sure that means he wants to be here, just looking for the best possible available job. this is the best coordinator job available at this point

Thanks for the words of wisdom. Ground breaking stuff.

Point is he wouldn't call somewhere he wasn't interested in Einstein. Hence he would want to come here.

Except they didn't go downhill. In their losses they were still putting up 40+ points per game. Will LSU be losing any games 52-45?

To OP: You're assuming Kiffin doesn't want to come here because he's exploring other options? Is it not possible to want to have multiple options? He's got a few weeks to burn.

Kelly called plays while Helfrich was OC. When Helfrich became HC, his OC called the plays. (dont recall his name) Also his recruiting rankings steadily declined as HC. Pass on Helfrich get Gilbert. Riley aint coming, or Kendall, or Canada.

allow me to spell it out for you. he reached out because this was the best available job, not because he simply wants to be at lsu. if he did get hired here there is nothing to say that he wouldn't leave in a year for another hc job, which was the op's point.

its ok, i understand you white booters aren't known for your intellectual prowess

We aren't going to be successful without successful coordinators. Successful coordinators are going to move on to head coaching jobs.

Why do y'all not want successful coordinators?

If we had a offensive HC, we wouldn't even be worried about any kind of search right now. We'd be sitting pretty.

I wonder if he's ever been to BR. He was born and raised in a nice little town in Oregon. He went to college in a nice little town in Oregon. His coaching career has taken him from Eugene, Austria, Boise, Tempe, Boulder, and back to Eugene.

He's definitely in for a culture shock and I bet hearing about all the violence in the news will be new to him and seeing certain things will be new to him.

Just wondering how long would he actually stay.

If hired he has a real chance to prove himself and I'd have no doubt he'd move on after 2 or 3 years.

After about 3 days or so when I visit NOLA I'm ready to get back home and I know what to expect.

I doubt he has any idea.

2 cents, sorry if my post irritates anyone.

If LSU scores more points than Alabama with Kiffin at OC, Kiffin could probably be moved into the safe Head Coach Hire category for AD's

This statement could realistically be made about anyone LSU is seriously considering.

It couldn't be made about Ensminger. But that is what you end up with if you don't hire someone who could be promomotable in 2-3 years.

Good point. More than likely that's true.
