Isn't roster management part of the HC job? Is Rattler a Freshman? Why isn't Rattler prepared to outperform the freshman?
Riley is a fraud handed a top program that he take further. OU roster ranked at least 25+ spots higher than ISU. Essentially, 4&5* vs 3*

Riley has been HC for 5 years and has only lost 9 games. Three of those losses were in the CFP against teams that did or should have (UGA) won the NC.

I like Riley. He's a good coach, but he has some deficiencies. That means he's not a sure thing. My concern is not so much the pay rate, but the duration of the contract. If he gets some 8 to 10 year deal at $12 million or up with some massive buyout, we are going to be stuck with him for quite a while.
I prefer Aranda. I think he's better than Riley. Some may disagree with that, but for the overwhelming majority the difference shouldn't be that big. We can probably get Aranda at half the price on a deal over a 5 year term or so with some incentives. There's flaws with Aranda too, but if he doesn't work out we can afford to buy him out and try again.
