I think this is what happens

The AD announcement is to make sure there is no effect towards OM actually getting in the playoff, how the committee views them without Kiffin. It makes no sense if he is staying to not announce that for your players, fans, boosters. Thinking next saturday on game day Saban breaks the story officially. Kiffin to LSU

There's still going to be a few weeks until the committee makes playoff decisions after Friday's egg bowl so this doesn't make sense.

The final selection would be after any announcement on Saturday - so this reasoning doesn't make sense.

Just a feeling his ties to LSU and Kiffin. His introduction in the media. He is relevant in the story so I just think Kiffin and Sexton would be good with him being the person to break it officially

If they lose it makes a big difference. If they win I think they are in regardless of who is coaching. Just a opinion

Basically, Lane is gone but thinking he'll save face by saying "I finished out the regular season" even though he won't be around for the playoff. He is who he always has been.

Just added Saban in because of his ties to many parties involved. It’s just an opinion.

There is only a committee decision if they lose. At 11-1 they are in no matter who coaches. Their only uncertainty of being in is if they lose the Egg Bowl. 10-2 without kiffin is way different then 11-1 with no kiffin
