Alamo Bowl in 2004

They ended up losing to Ohio State, but that isn't relevant right now.

It was 2004. I wasn't on TD yet, but I think the site was was about a year old. Does anyone remember that search, and was their a coaching changes board in those days? Were the fans just as anxious then as now. This board will lose it's mine if we go to late December without a new coach. Granted, there was no early signing period in 2004

I remember the Alamo Bowl game and tOSU running wildcat with Ted Ginn Jr up and down the field on Les Miles and thinking to myself “we’re hiring this idiot who can’t stop a running back at QB?”

Fastforward three years later and I’m sitting in my seats in TS watching the same idiot not stop Darren McFadden at QB

I remember seeing his name as a possibility but never thought he would get the job until I saw it scroll on the bottom of the screen as the Iowa WR ran in the game winning TD in Capital One Bowl.

Les Miles was announced on the day of the bowl game. The one we lost to Iowa on the last play.

People were pissed at the hire and then pissed at the game.

Site was in meltdown mode.

The site had meltdowns back then? Just curious how many active users did the boards have back then compared to now? I remember joining when there was a lot of talk about Saban leaving/staying but the first real melt I witnessed was after the horrible loss to UT and subsequent melts after the 2006 Auburn game and losing McKnight to SC.

I remember his Okie St team surrendering a huge lead in the 2nd half and getting beat that year...maybe to the Sooners?

I guess we'll have to wait and see if Woody brings us an even bigger mine, or the shaft.

This was known, as was interviewing Petrino at the site of their bowl game and also the Del Rio fiasco where he was told he’d be fired if he took the meeting so left Skip and co sitting in a car alone for hours.
