This was addressed by another poster already. USC was torpedoed by Carroll, not Kiffin. USC is 25-15 since they fired him, and that's without being on heavy sanctions like they were when he was there.
The reason people don't want Kiffin is because he's an arrogant douche.

I agree and have said, multiple times, that Kiffin would be on my short list. There are a few I'd rather have, but I wouldn't be opposed to rolling the dice on him, if it comes to that.

Hiring Kiffin wouldn't even be viewed as a strikeout (even if it was.)
I imagine Kiffin's humbling will have forced him to learn how to be a better HC and realize his mistakes. The guy was in his early 30s and treated as a superstar, he just needed to have an ego check

He is a class A jerk more than anything else that finds ways to alienate the people around him. It does not take much to alienate a guy like Al Davis of the Raiders, but it does take talent to have a guy like Davis have to be restrained from attacking you physically....and by this time Davis was an old man.
