LSU had over 400 yards of offense, but had 4 turnovers. Turnovers and allowing their running back to gain 190 yards cost the game.

My bad, it was a well coached game.

Yeah, I trust Aranda's input far more than Orgeron's. I'm talking about Orgeron's useless input that cost us the Troy game.

ETA - I may be confused here. Some people are acting like Canada and Aranda wouldn't work together based on the OP. It sounds like you're suggesting Aranda should be involved with the new OC, not that he and Canada had some kind of problem.

I think Orgeron meddled, and then also wanted to have an input on the offense's pace and protections or whatever (as said in the OP).

I don't think there was a beef between Canada and Aranda. I just don't think Canada wanted much input from anyone at all.

Orgeron shouldn't have butted in as much as he did, and I'm sure Canada doesn't play well with others. Much like what was said in the OP.

I believe the OC should get insight from the DC as to what the opponent does defensively and what may work most effectively against it. To not accept the input of a DC like Aranda would be unwise. There is also some responsibility to maintain respect for the OC while doing it. We are talking about high level, highly competitive people who will react aggressively when their art is critiqued. O has to be the Alpha dog in that situation, but if he isn’t, therein lies the problem.

It's almost like they think the motions are to tire out the defense before the play starts.

I remember Joe Montana using motion to read the coverage assignments based on how they react d to the motion. It is a powerful tool if used correctly.

Yeah it checks out. Just trying to add some confirmation of your story. Thanks!

I hear differently. Aranda did NOT like that Canada was insubordinate and ratfinked on O and blew a common situation out of control. Aranda , our $2.5m man, was consulted before we fired Canada 100%, and was not a fan of Canada.

Canada was not open to outside input at all. Said he would bristle up immediately if anyone made suggestions or asked questions. Said he seemed very insecure and defensive.

In his defense.... I don’t know shite about running an offense and I wouldn’t listen to Orgeron either.

It actually wasn't, but three touchdowns should have beaten Troy. LSU failed to convert a third down and Troy led in TOP. However the offense still played well enough to win except for turnovers

If E isnt the OC Wednesday then he won't be the OC. Thats probably the only thing I can say I'm 100% on.

I mostly agree with this. Crazier things have happened, though. The powers-that-be might need more time to build consensus - look how negative these boards have reacted and fully half of us say we love Ensminger as a a Tiger and all around dude.

I would say if Steve isn't announced by Tuesday, the 16th, then it's somebody else. I mean, Lombardi AND Sark can't both make it all the way to the Superbowl - when one is out and gets an interview, we'll get a preview of "The Search(tm)".

I think Sark is a long shot at this point unless the Falcons lose this weekend. If he gets them to the conference championship, they're not going to fire him and I'd be shocked if he left an NFL team on his own for a lateral move to a college team.

Yeah, if I'm the OC and this happens, and its my gameplan that gets altered, you bet your arse I'm going to Alleva

I hope this is reliable info, and makes sense.

I would be satisfied with either Gilbert or Freeze as the New OC.

I and I thought every rational human being interpreted it this way. Obviously, the scuttlebutt was pretty heavy that Canada was gone.

It was only since the bowl that folks started really saying SE was a real candidate for the permanent gig.

On paper, none of this (SE as OC) makes any sense.

But the Ed Orgeron hire wasn't a "common situation". The sell job was, "we're going to hire Ed O as the head coach, but he's not going to over rule the coordinators."

And I like Aranda, BUT...

I'm sick and tired of hearing a defensive coordinator whine about an offense with tempo "wearing our own defense out". Clemson won a national title with a tempo offense. Ohio State won a national title with a tempo offense. Oregon was a field goal away from winning a national title.

I don't care if your defense has to play a few more snaps in a game if your offense is scoring 2 more td's a game as well.

If this is true then a lot of my faith in O has been restored.

If he/they actually pull in Gilbert or Freeze then I'll gladly admit that I thought the sky was falling a little prematurely. With Freeze/Gilbert and Aranda the ceiling suddenly gets a lot higher, Unfortunately though, the fact still remains that we have a HC no one else wants... And that is always going to limit us..

I have always understood O's post A&M game comments about Ensminger as the bowl game, if Canada left for another job. Nothing more or nothing less.

If that’s all he meant, he’s had plenty time to say as such, don’t you think???
