Recruit is what Tee does best...Offensive scheming...not so much.

You can't look at his absolute value. You have to look at his relative value to the people on staff that he would be replacing. If you could replace Sullivan and Joseph with one person, allowing for, say, a QB coach to come on board, you've upped your recruiting with no real drop off in coaching at the WR position (it's already terrible), but added potential value in the QB room.

Even if Tee can't scheme his way out of a paper bag, the potential QB could.

Is Martin a great WR coach?

Because don’t look now but Mickey Joseph is actually good at recruiting, and maaaaaaybe the WRs being bad last year isn’t all his fault.

Nah.

He's one of two WR coaches on staff. If the WRs were good, you could argue over who deserves the credit. But since the WRs aren't good, both of them are to blame.

Tee Martin seems to be a no-brainer as WR coach.

Time for TBL to weigh in. What's going on?

I would say David Johnson is a no brainier

Tee Martin is a head scratcher

What's his connection to the head football coach here?

EDIT: never mind, I see that he turned down an opportunity to join the staff here last year.

Why do people think he'd be more willing to join this season?

In any event, Tee Martin is an elite recruiter. Go to 247 and look at the list of guys he's pulled in. Extremely impressive.

Martin isn't far removed from being an assistant hot shot. Most recruiting related but he had tremendous promise as a future OC. Maybe a change is necessary for him to get better.
USC has been a disaster for years and that tells me the environment is toxic because it isn't talent and they've had talented coaches pass through.
I'm not fan of hiring Martin as playcaller but as a recruiter of course. Just saying maybe it's USC that was the problem and Martin needs a change of scenery to blossom.

Tee Martin is one of the better WR coaches in college football and he’s a hell of recruiter also. I can understand not wanting him at OC but as WR coach it would be great hire.

Wait, I'm talking about him coming here as a WR coach. I thought we all were.

Ensminger is not going anywhere unless he retires.

Chase was going to Florida had they not fired their staff

Joseph isn’t a good enough recruited to offset his awful, terrible coaching

Is tee Martin an excellent WR coach

And another question: how is he when he isn’t recruiting west coast players to USC. That’s not exactly the hardest sell.

He's pretty good. Helped coach up JuJu, Robert Woods, Marquise Lee and Nelson Agholor. Developed some of the less heralded guys like Deontay Burnett.

O really wants Tee and is pursuing him. I have not heard anything else. I will keep yall posted. Nothing major will happen until after the bowl game.

Tee may get a better offer from UL.

Well if we lose him because UL makes him OC, then oh well. He hasn't proven himself as OC.

If they're talking about WR coach and he still picks them, then that sucks. He would fill a huge void at WR coach.

Well he will likely get offered something like a WR/Co-OC or WR/PGC type title at LSU or AHC. Not sure how many coaches can get AHC titles.

Sullivan's title is Senior offensive assistant/passing game coordinator. That's pretty much co-oc. I'm sure they're trying to get Tee in the same role and either leave Joseph as WR coach or someone said they might go after David Johnson, currently at Tennessee, to coach WR next year. Johnson is from New Orleans and also coached at Memphis.

Joseph has been a pretty good recruiter for us. I wonder if he's improved any as a position coach this past year.

I think Sullivan was a good hire for coaching technique, but I don't feel like our passing game was designed very well. It didn't seem like the routes complemented each other very well. I guess this could have been a result of pressure not allowing time for things to develop, though. Hard to say without watching the all 22.
