I said his focus was elsewhere. It was. He had a job as OC getting ready to play for a NC. He wouldn't do or complete his current job first, so Saban fired him. Even if he takes Ole Miss to the playoffs, his mind will be on all the other job offers Sexton brings his way.

Hartline

Lol So you think a career long position coach (WR)... who is a first year play-caller as an OC, is a better HC candidate than Kiffin?

I think most of you are pimping Golesh simply because you've seen him mentioned on TD. Golesh is 7-6, 7-6, and 7-3 as a head coach. What makes you think he could get LSU to the playoffs?

I'd rather see LSU take a chance with Hartline age 38 or Golesh age 41

Many LSU fans here denigrate Miles for the coeds rumor and innuendo, but turn a blind eye to Kiffins rumored coeds escapades. Why is that?

I don't think their coed rumors are the same

How do you not understand? He's taking Ole Miss(Yes, that Ole Miss) to the playoffs. If you don't understand what an accomplishment that is, then you'll never understand.

By today’s playoff standards, Houston Nutt also would have had his 10-2 Ole Miss teams in the playoffs. And Nutt had to do it without NIL.

He’s the best name on the board that you have a realistic shot at.

Well Ole miss has 0 sec championships appearances, that makes it even more impressive what he is doing

Yes I do. OSU has been to the CFP numerous times with him on staff and won. Look at the WR's he's coached at OSU. He's worked under both Urban Meyer and Ryan Day. His ceiling is high. Kiffin's not so much.

Me neither. While he is definitely a good coach and he’s dynamic/unconventional and brings lots of interest and excitement wherever he goes, I’m not sure that will translate to long term sustainable success. I’d much rather a boring coach like Kirby Smart, pretty much the opposite of Kiffin, but no doubt he will be at UGA for a long time and will likely bring in several more SEC titles and challenge for NC’s regularly. Kiffin is the hot commodity and flavor of the day. If LSU were to give him the entire state budget it wouldn’t mean we’d have him for more than 4 or five years and possibly no titles.

So if he comes to LSU you're ok with a 6 year window?

Years ago, I hated him. Post rehab and getting his life together? I love him. Easily the best coach available and it’s not even close for second.

Did Saban stay long at any place before he went to Bama?

How many SEC West titles does he have at Ole Miss? How many SEC conference championships does he have at Ole Miss?

I believe the same number as Saban had in the B1G at Michigan State and Miles had in the Big XII at Ok State

He's off the Heupel-Art Briles coaching tree. He would have much better talent here than at USF. What makes you think Kiffin stays at LSU long enough to win a title?

He would never leave LSU. Would be his final stop and he could be a king here or at Florida and be Spurrier 2.0.

You think making the playoffs at Ole Miss and LSU are the same?

We hadn't seen their body of work like with Kiffin. Neither had held a high profile position at a USC either and got fired.
