You're crazy if you think LSU voluntarily took the PR hit of firing Miles midseason to just sit around twiddling their thumbs.

Do we have our next HC inked? Probably not, but we most certainly have our guy and PlanB guys lined up and ready to roll.

Possibly, but I don't think Fisher or Herman would lose many guys they actually want. Hell, Jimbo would even have an elite QB already lined up.

are you serious? it's called negotiation. all kinds of shite is on the table. we can tell him anything we want to.

where you getting your info from man? we were never going to offer Aranda the HC job, we want him as the DC and will pay him; hell, we've already tripled his salary from whiskey. and you damn better believe we want to keep him. if a potential HC doesn't want to keep him it proves he's a fool and we don't hire fools.

O isn't going anywhere unless he gets a HC job, because LSU is going to pay him very well to stay... He won't get a Dline or DC job paying $1mil per year.

Now that said, it's quite apparent that O deserves another shot at HC somewhere, just not sure who would make it happen, maybe Mizzou?

Miles kept Jimbo, although it might have been shaped by Gundy staying behind as HC at Okie Light

1. Miles was basically required to hold onto Jimbo. LSU needed some kind of continuity on at least one side of the ball and Jimbo was one of the best in the business and still under contract.

2. It's not a secret that Miles and Gundy hated one another. There was no love lost between the two. Gundy was never coming to LSU with Miles, whether he got the OSU HC job or not.

What were the issues they had?

It was a tenuous start to begin with if I recall correctly. Gundy and Miles were both finalists for the HC job and it wasn't a surprise they didn't get along and if I am remembering correctly part of the deal with Miles was that he had to take Gundy as OC if he wanted the job.

Miles probably had his hands all over play calling also.

Hanny reminded me the other day about 2006 at Auburn and "Jimbo and Miles practically wrestling on the sidelines fighting over playcalling"

I think you're giving Alleva and King too much credit.

I understand them having cold feet on Aranda since he has never been a HC before, but are they at least going to give him an interview?

I think he at least deserves to be put into consideration given all he has been able to accomplish over his short career. Even if he is not towards the top of the list, at least give the man a chance to see what he would do and get a feel for how he might run the program as a HC.

I'm sure that line will go over really well with Jimbo.

I've supported Jimbo coming to Baton Rouge since last season, but if he did not want to retain Aranda I'd begin to seriously question my support for him.

He's seemed to always hint at his dismay for FSU not supporting him retaining a quality DC. WE HAVE ONE! Maybe THE BEST one.
