Hypothetical: would O ever agree to a "no recruiting" clause with a coordinator?

I know Brady isn't coming back, but say we threw a butt load of money at him and told him he didn't have to go on the road to kiss these kids asses, just talk to them while they are on campus and do the research. Considering how hardcore Orgeron is with recruiting, would this fly with him? I hear this was essentially Pelini's arrangement during his first stint with LSU.

I don’t see how that would be favorable for any team. Imagine trying to recruit a player to play for an offense that he wont even speak to the guy coordinating it until he is on campus. Not saying it couldn’t happen but I just don’t see any benefits from it.

It's how Bud Foster was at VT. Wouldn't recruit off campus - just phone calls and talking with the kids on visits

No coach likes recruiting. Period.
Some fib and say they do.
The Brady 'hates to recruit' meme was grossly overblown. It was used as a cover for the AD's failure to sign Brady to a tight and large contract (with a huge buyout) before the onslaught came from the NFL and others.
"It's a done deal. The board will sign it at their next meeting". LOL

I see the new year hasn't made you any less of a fricking idiot.
Brady wasn't staying no matter what. Could have made him the highest paid OC and he wasn't staying. Get that through your fjcking fat head!!!

bullshite. You are a sucker for a PR narrative.
LSU could have signed Brady in late October or in November. By that time, it was clear he was worth top-10 coordinator money. 1.75 mil at the least. Instead they dinked around until January, and offered Brady half that.
The AD whiffed on Brady.

Didn’t Brady sign a contract with an NFL clause?
LINK
SI thinks so.
And he is making like 2+ mill at Carolina. Nothing we could have done. And the fact that Joe wanted that clause tells you where he wanted to be.

When. In January, right? AFTER his pal got an NFL HC gig.
Brady should been signed in October. And paid a premium for dropping any 'out' clauses BEFORE the hoards of HC's, ADs, and GM's put him on their short list.

1. He ain't coaching at LSU.
2. Woody ain't bashful about paying top dollar.

Should they have held him at gunpoint?
The fact that there was an out clause means Brady wanted to go to the NFL if that was an option.
And the owner of the Panthers is worth 13 billion. We weren’t outbidding him.

Verbally agreed... agreed with what team?

Just tell me how you get him to agree to a buyout that would prevent him from going to the NFL.

You don't have to outbid. You outmaneuver. Rhule wasn't hired until January.
The deal should have been closed in Nov at the latest.

Just tell me you don't have a sharp enough business mind to understand that.
Money talks. bullshite walks. It ain't complicated.

Again, if Brady wants to be in the NFL he gets that clause in his contract.
Because he has the leverage because he’s the commodity.
Your dumb arse was saying 1.75. Thats doesn’t get a guy to drop an NFL dream.
Pay him top OC money. That’s expected. He’s gonna get that from someone in 2020 ifLSU doesn’t give it to him. So why agree to a buyout that would limit him?
