Not to say that Pelini has not done a good job but you're comparing one of the weakest divisions of football (Big XII North) with one of the toughest (SEC West). That's not fair.

Poor Les. He has to take a loaded team and play such a tough schedule.

Look, SEC was weak in both 2008 and 2009 outside of UF and Bama.

Again, ignore the fact that Pelini was rebuilding Nebraska from a losing team with average talent, while Les had a juggernaut.

You can try and twist it all you want, but Pelini nearly beat UT last year in the Big XII title game with a significant talent gap. Les has yet to beat a team his is significantly less talented than to date.

Still doing better with Less than Les.

It's perfectly fine English. I have yet to see Les go into a game versus a team significantly more talented than his at LSU and actually win.

Dude, LSU is more talented than 80% of the teams in NCAA and probably equal in talent to 90% of the teams in NCAA, the excpetion being teams with all-world QBs. LSU has had this talent for the nearly the past decade. In the future, the only way LSU becomes less talented is if a really bad coach comes in and can't win or recruit. Discounting a team's or coach's wins because they are talented is also one of the dumbest things I've heard. And if it means anything (although I'm sure you'll find a way to discount this team's accomplishments) LSU under Miles has defeated a number of opposing teams that were favored to win, UF and Bama being the ones that we beat this year. And yeah, I know UF turned out to be an 7 or 8 win team.

Question as to which games Bo Pelini has taken Nebraska into with significantly less talent and actually won. Because they lost to every ranked team they played in 2008, and the two ranked teams they beat last year finished 8-5.

You could have just stopped here because LSU hasn't been significantly "out-talented" since Les got to LSU with the exception of Florida in 2008 and 2009.

Kind of my point. Les has been on par or ahead talent-wise in almost every game he's coached at LSU.

The same cannot be said for Pelini rebuilding particularly in his first year.

I am not defending Pelini as some messiah, but the guy is a hell of a coach.

Les is a good coach too, but has greatly benefited from the talent LSU had when he got here.

Under that assumption, you would have to say that Les has done a pretty good job as recruiting is an integral task a coach is responsible.

false. he's a pretty good coach, no more no less

he's the same as a HC as he is a DC: he can dominate the god awful big 12 north, but he's 4-7 against ranked teams

his defense was falling to complete shite at the end of 2007 and his 2010 season at nebraska fell to complete shite

So his first year as a HC he struggled with a mediocre talented team but still significantly improved their record, then improved them the next two years. He has been rebuilding a team.

As for 2007, it had as much to do with injuries as anything. Pelini is a good coach and IMO a better COACH than Miles. Miles, on the other hand, is a much better recruiter.

2010 Nebraska had injuries at QB that killed them. Martinez has been hurt since week 6 and it's showed. Green is just that, green. I am sorry he hasn't built up Nebraska to the level of talent Saban did at LSU by his 3rd year.

That said, Les is a good coach. His best attribute is he can really recruit.

As bad as the Big XII north is, they had multiple top 25 teams this year and one of their shittiest teams beat UGA. He's dominated the Big XII North for 2 years too.

In the end, Pelini wouldn't be my choice to replace Les if he left, but I wouldn't be upset if he came here. Some people are just butthurt over what happened in 2007 and want to blame him for everything that year.

i'd argue he had better than mediocre talent...they werent loaded, but they had better players than anyone in their division

he probably wont ever have super talented teams, he isnt a good recruiter and he isnt a good enough coach to overcome that.

them and mizzou? mizzou lost a december 29th bowl game against an unranked team...not impressed. and UGA sucks this year, colorado beating them is pretty irrelevant.

amazing feat

he's also a psychopath on the sidelines and generally disliked by OU, LSU, and now Nebraska fans...but he dominates the big 12 north!!

Mizzou and Nebraska were the only teams ranked in the Big 12 north at any point this season. Pelini's first year at Nebraska showed an improvement in record by beating 6 teams that finished at or below .500. And they split the north with Mizzou this year.

He definitely has his issues, but Nebraska was not the most talented team in the Big XII North when he got there. Missouri has been.

That said, he's learning. I think he'll get better as a coach in time. Les has gotten better from his time at both OSU and LSU.

this scenario is highly unlikely. If Les Miles went to Michigan it would just be a downward spiral for his career. LSU will be the best job Les Miles will ever have and he will coach here until he is fired/retires. Michigans program is in shambles right now especially the way rich rod has been recruiting it.

Which he has added to. Saban benefitted from Di Nardo's talent.
Bo didn't exactly walk into an empty cubbard. You do recall a guy named Suh don't you?
This is Pelini's third year.

Defense isn't the problem for Nebraska.

Bo walked into a COMPLETELY empty cupboard on offense.

So Les has brought in more talent to LSU then what he had when he took over? I wonder why he can't win the West then.
