Yes, it is. Watch Nebraska games. Watch old Tennessee games. Pelini has always been about stopping the pass first and does not like to stack the box. Also, our D did not back off in the Ole Miss game ths year. We were way too aggressive and it cost us on their big plays.

If Miles bolts for Michigan (oh please let this happen), Pelini wouldn't be at the top of my list, but he would be still be a considerable upgrade over our current situation.

i dont think hes a considerable upgrade at all. hes won alot of games in the one of the worst divisions in college football. he would be moving to one of the most competitive. hes not a big recruiter, although louisiana has a built in advantage so maybe thats not as big a deal...

NO PELINI--I can not deal with his passive, inconsistent defense again.
I'd rather have Gary Crowton, than Bo Pelini. At least Crowton would keep the Chief and his defensive scheme.

I don't want Pelini, just like I don't want Leach.

So in 3 years, we lost 3 games that were not even entirely his defenses' fault and you're right. Sadly, many people will remember him for that rather than two top 5 defenses and another just as good when healthy and not having Auburn's dirty play.
When healthy, all 3 of those defenses were better than this years "amazing" defense.
Pelini turned around Nebraska in 1 year. They went from 5-7 with absolutely no defense to 9-4, a NY's Day bowl, and an improved defense in year 1.
In year 2, 10-4 with a division title and Big XII championship in his second year.
In year 3, 10-3, Big XII title game again, top defense, and likely finishes his season at 11-3.
Meaning he's improved every season unlike Miles. Rebuilding his team unlike Miles, he has won 2 more games than Miles that took over a juggernaut at its peak over the last three years.

Not to say that Pelini has not done a good job but you're comparing one of the weakest divisions of football (Big XII North) with one of the toughest (SEC West). That's not fair.
I wish we could play Kansas, Iowa State, and Colorado every year.

I should've quoted the poster claiming LSU fans will remember him for the 05 Tennessee game and the 07 UK and Arky games.
In all three games, we lost because of more than defense.
05 UT:
We scored 14 of our first 21 off defensive plays. Our offensive play calling was playing scared as shite and typical time management gaffe.
07 UK:
Horrible playcalling on offense again and not stepping on UK's throats when we had the chance.
07 Arky:
Confusion on offense, settling for FGs in the redzone to start the game twice. Yup, we lost because of his defense though.
It's funny to think, but look at the losses in Pellini's years at LSU:
2005:
UT - explained
UGA - team was just drained and we lost JR and killed ourselves with turnovers.
2006:
Auburn - all on offense. We held them to 7 points for God's sake.
Florida - Dominated their offense but lost on turnovers by offense and special teams:
16 points following turnovers or offensive/special teams gaffes.
