Highly unlikely that Freeze leaves a 10 win team to go be an offensive coordinator. He can get a better head coaching job in the next couple of years if he sticks it out in Jonesboro.
How much do you think he's making at ASU? We payed Nix close to a million a year. Pretty sure he would get a raise here as an OC.
And if Smart succeeds and leaves us for greener pastures, Freeze should be well groomed for a HC position by then.

I have a feeling the Smart HC Freeze OC thing didnt work out so we just gave the HC position to Freeze.
I won't be completely disappointed by the hire.. Freeze has been good everywhere he's coached, and he's passionate about Ole Miss so it could work out if he ends up at HC

This is what I hope happens IF Smart got the job and left for another school.

arent they roughly the same age? why would he take an OC job then wait behind Smart, who will have to coach 3-4 years before he would leave (fired, hired elsewhere). Or what if he's successful and gets an extension, then what for Feeeze. Makes no sense for him to take OC job.

They're both young. Age isn't really that big of a deal unless you're really old.
And if Smart is successful enough for an extension, he'll probably be successful enough for a better job.
hence why I said......"when he leaves for a better job."
and Freeze also has the choice to leave as well.

how many D1 coaches have ever gone from HC to OC voluntarily?

What happens when Smart cant win there and is fired in 4 years? Where does that leave Freeze?
Freeze isnt leaving his head coaching position to be an OC- that would be moronic
State hired a top OC in 10 days- you guys cant get a coach in over a month- AND you got turned down by USM's coach- USM's coach told you NO
but yeah- tell yourself your a better program and Grenada North is a better town....righttttttt- whatever makes you feel better

He's getting paid like shite at ASU, but that's not the point. He's currently the guy at ASU, it would be weird for him to go back to being a coordinator. It would be a huge risk for him to make that move and bank on taking over after Smart because if Smart fails, the whole staff is probably gone.

dunno...
but what relevance is it to Freeze what someone else somewhere else does or doesn't do?
I can tell you first hand that Freeze and his wife are doing everything they can to come back to Oxford. I think it's safe to say he'd take an OC position in Oxford for a good salary close to what we paid Nix.
would he take an OC position anywhere that isn't an elite, top-tiered school? No.

we hired that Dan Mullen guy with his 2 NC's as an OC- you know- something Petrino has never even seen

No he wouldnt
He is coming back to Grenada North as the HC- it damn sure wont be as the OC
And this is why your coaching searches make you laughingstocks- you guys are so damn delusional

hell, Mullen took a toughass job- we all know it's hard as hell to win at State- much easier to win at the top 6 programs of the SEC...2 bowls, 15 wins so far, which is better than 5 other SEC teams the last 2 years- I'll take it
