According to the logic of some here, he should have never been hired by Ole Miss. His prior experience was a high school coach, tight ends coach and OC at a small school.

He was a big gamble by Ole Miss. Schools like that have to go for the desperation plays. LSU should have a much better pool of coaches to choose from. Not saying they will get whoever they want but LSU shouldn't have to take a shot in the dark.

He was connected to some previous recruits and came from the head coach pipeline that is Arkansas State. IIRC, malzhan came quickly from Arkansas state to auburn. Its a gamble still sure, but auburn is mediocre and ole miss has never won anything. So what's your point again?

He had three years as a college head coach. But what's your argument. He's had moderate success at Ole Miss, and may or may not be on the verge of NCAA penalties.

Comparing Ole Miss' coaching search to LSU's is asinine. Ole Miss wasn't, and still isn't, the caliber job LSU is. They took a gamble on Freeze because they are a program that was in a position to take a gamble after trying to repair the damage done to the program that Coach O and Houston Nutt created.
That's what a lot of you jackasses can't seem to wrap your mind around. This coaching decision is going affect this program for at LEAST 10 years. Why the frick do you want to waste it on a failed HC that, other than his stint as an interim, has done nothing substantive outside of being a damn good position coach. It's not just about letting your coordinators do their jobs, it's about building and sustaining a program. He is not the man for the job.

A. He was a gamble by Ole Miss. A program not hear ours in prestige, resources, and success.
B. He had never failed on an historic level at another D1 football program. Much less one in the SEC West. I guaranfrickintee Ole Miss would not have hired him if he went 3-21 in the SEC West at Arkansas, during which he got progressively worse culminating in an 0-8 record his third year with all of his players and system in place.

He has recruited better than O, improved every year, and brought their program up to levels it hasn't been in a long time.
Orgeron recruited worse, got worse every year, and brought their program to levels of the opposite kind that is hasn't seen ever.

He coached at two small colleges.
He went 20-5 at the first one, and 10-2 at his second.
He's never been unsuccessful.
And he was 100% not qualified for the LSU job.

Well he brought a major investigation to Oxford in 3 years so I would tend to agree with that.
