How short of a rope does the new hire have? Do we give the new coach 2 full seasons to recruit and install systems?

Which potential hire has the longest rope and which one would have the shortest?

If 18 games in, we are 7-11, do we start this process over?

The Rant will probably want the new coach fired after the spring game.

7-11? Miles won ten games a season and got fired. O won a national championship and is about .500 since then and got fired. Tucker won’t have the chance to go 7-11 and still be around. Anything less than eight wins and he’s got to be gone. Anything less than 10 wins after year two and he will be gone.

I’d agree. I think Tucker would have a short leash if he were hired. One of the candidates with the least HC experience.

This will be a factor for some coaches.

You have to go play in the SEC West, with OU and Texas joining, and winning 9 or 10 isn’t good enough

After year 8, that carriage turned into a pumpkin.

That’s what I’m trying to judge. I think we have to give a new HC time. The major programs that have fallen off have made their way through head coaches like a baby goes through diapers.

Patience level with the people who matter is directly proportional to the % of recruits salvaged and current talent retained plus talent acquired from the Transfer Portal.
