I am hoping he would be hired first, though the DL coach may already have been chosen by Kelly. Since the position coaches must report to the new coordinator, would hope he will have plenty of day so.

Why do y’all ask questions like this like any fan could accurately answers it?

I’m sure almost complete say, as I believe that’s why everyone was fired. Regardless of what Jordy keeps trying to tell everyone, this has been in the works, and I believe the new DC told Kelly who he wanted and he worked on it over the last month or so.

Why tf do people say the coordinators pick their assistant coaches? That is 100000% not the case. The head coach does this. It’s his team. His coaches. The end.

How did Kelly do so far in the two years with his defense coaches that he hired them two years ago?

I’d say batting .500. He’s fixing the problem now. I’m failing to see your point…

I’d assume zero, Kelly might not want to put his date into the hands of some other guy

Take the the "r" and move it to the end of "joke", then drop the "lsu" and then we have you "joker".

Come on man, not a single person on the message board can answer that question.

It’s not crazy that certain ones can have some input if not “dictate” the hire.

There was the Rant narrative that Aranda demanded Busch, and they did have history. And Chavis had Ron Cooper with him at both Aggie and Arky.

In a perfect world I’m sure the DC would have input, but hand pick his staff. Don’t believe it for a minute. HC’s get fired because bad performances. This was epically bad. He’s gonna undo his mistake, and retool. Why would he fire the whole staff and then leave it up to his new hire to fill the slots.

New DC gets to hire all his people at every school, plus they are usually some holdovers for recruiting etc

If there was an hour conversation between prospective DC and HC, 55 minutes would be about scheme and expectations and 5 minutes would be the HC listing who he intended to bring in as position coaches. Unless the prospective DC said he couldn’t work with X, that would be the extent of the input on the position hires.

Id be more concerned with what players can the new DC bring with them. I have a feeling that will be a big part of the decision BK makes.

The DC would have to have a lot of flexibility and say so if he was hiring coaches. He would need access to Private Jets, he would need to know the salaries he can offer and the max offer for each coach with length of contract. He would need HC access and admin capabilities. If the DC had this much of a role it would be tough for him to report to the HC then the HC ask the AD for permissions and advice going through chain of command. Then the DC would have to be in charge year after year of extensions he promised and raises etc etc.

What kind of fricking nonsense is this?

The almost complete say part would be “this is who I want for assistants” and then the head coach does all the work trying to get them, or tells them you can have this guy and this guy, but I want to bring in this other guy for this position. The coordinator doesn’t have to travel to meet with these people or decide who gets paid what.

The defensive coordinator has to have coaches who somewhat match his coaching style, otherwise it’s just going to be like we saw this year.
