Sark from Washington to USC. He left behind a 9-win team.

It would certainly be unprecedented, especially considering he isn't to anyone's knowledge having issues with the administration like Jimbo did in Trashlahassee...There's almost zero chance he leaves Oklahoma for any job but the NFL, there's no way he leaves OU because someone waved a check in his face.

Bama was on probation, Boise is a G5 job, and Jimbo let FSU rot on his way out the door because he was done with the school's non commitment to football.

This is the one big reason it's hard to believe Riley is coming to LSU. I don't know what would be the catalyst, outside of money, for him to go.

Talent Rich State with ONLY Out-of-State competition.

Already in SEC

Established program, autonomy to run & hire who he needs & facilities are top notch.

It would be.

The only other one of this magnitude you have to go back to Paul Dietzel.

LSU to Army

It's never happened at the level of Riley to LSU (which also won't happen).

But people melting preemptively and saying LSU isn't a top 5 job because we can't make it happen are...dumb.

Out of the reasons you listed this would probably be the only realistic reason. If OU won't give him what he wants in terms of staffing/facilities I could see him leaving but that's really the only way I see it happen.

It's incredibly rare.

That said, is it just a matter of no one thinking that you could shoot this high? A failure of imagination up until this point?

Don't discount talent rich La and being THE school in-State.

Riley has seen the talent 1st hand.
