Hot coaching names

These are some of the hot names (In no particular order) who may be up for bigger gigs this year IMO:

Brian Kelly (Cincinnati) Coached at Grand Valley State where he won 6 confrence titles and two national championships where he went 120-35-2. Went to perinial laughing stock Central Michgan where he went 19-16 and led the Chippewas to their first bowl game in forever. Currently at Cinn with an 11-3 record and two bowl wins. His overall record is 147–54–2. (Staying at Cincy for the time being)

Troy Calhoun (Air Force) 14-6 as a head coach and has had success, but not been dominant. Has NFL experince though.

Bobby Petrino (Arkansas) Always on the move.

Chris Petersen (Boise State) 31-3 after taking over for Dan Hawkins.

Turner Gill (Buffalo) Big name last year when his alma mater was looking for a coach (Nebraska). His record's not that impressive, but he is first in the MAC East this year and has won 9 games in the last two years at Buffalo of all places.

Bronco Mendenhall (BYU) has a pretty good record but been the defensive mind behind offensive teams, so I'm not sure how that will be taken.

Skip Holtz (ECU) 22-17 at ECU and was on his way to being a big name before a big upset at N.C. State.

Mark Mangion, Gary Pinkel, Mike Leach, Mike Gundy (Kansas, Mizzou, Tx Tech and OK State) Four big name coaches who might look to make a move from Big XII schools not named Oklahoma or Texas.

Butch Davis (North Carolina) 10-10 over all with the Tar Heels. Would he be interested in going to a school with more tradition and resources like a Tenn or AU?

Pat Fitzgerald (Northwestern) Young coach who has improved the record every year for the Wildcats and has already gotten Northwestern bowl eligible this year.

Jim Leavitt (USF) doubt he goes anywhere because his program is doing well in a talent rich state. Although Miami and Fla State are down right now so he might want to sell his coaching stock high for a better gig.

Al Golden (Temple) Young coach who has won 6 games at Temple. Defensive mind who interviewed for the UCLA job.

Todd Graham (Tulsa) Currently on a hot streak with a 8-1 record and undefeated in confrence at Tulsa. Might ride positive season to a bigger coaching job or might get overlooked as a product of his coordinator Gus Malzahn.

Kyle Whittingham (Utah) has done better each year at Utah and has a 32-14 record overall. Currently #10 in the BCS and AP and #9 in the coaches poll.

Jim Grobe (Wake Forest) Big year last two years. Might look to go on to bigger things.

Lane Kiffin Former Oakland Raider coach and USC assistant. Seems more like a mid-west/west coast guy. Look for Washington to be very interested. (Taking the Head Coaching spot at Tenn.)

Bobby Hauck (Montana) Division I FCS/Div I-AA with a 52-14 record. Might be a hard sell to a big school, but might take over for a guy like Brian Kelly if he leaves Cinn. or Gill at Buffalo, etc.

Dick Bumpas (Defensive Coordinator for TCU) Native of ArKansas and went to Arkansas University. Coached LBers at Tenn., and DLine at Ark. Never has been a head coach.

Gary Patterson (TCU) 71-26 record as head coach with three strait bowl wins. Currently 9-1 and ranked as high as #11 in the polls.

Bill Cowher- (sportscaster) If you don't know who he is, I can't help you. Don't know if he wants to coach college ball or not, but he was mentioned so I'm doing my due diligence.

Mark Dantonio (Michigan State) Haven't really heard his name that much. 16-8 at Michigan State with one bowl loss to BC last year and was 18-17 at Cinn with one bowl win against Marshall. Might have a lot more to prove.
