The money can’t be that big of a deal for him to take such a huge step down.
Maybe he realized he can’t compete in a big conference

Wazzu to WVU is a lateral move imo

He’s got a lot of personal ties to Houston outside of Fertitta

WVU is a superior program to Wazzu

100%. And he could stick it to Texas Tech....

or maybe we have a similar situation with what happened to jimbo at FSU. both sides seem fed up with one another and he is looking for a way out and WVU wants to make a change. he has familiarity with UH and the AD unless im mistaken so hes willing to take the job where he hopes can fit whatever he wants to do more easily. while WVU probably thinks they can make a clean break from these last eight years and jump on someone like leach who can hopefully get past the 8/9 win ceiling that hologorsen has had

is there any difference between UofH signing all of this stuff today instead of yesterday? is there anything that would reduce his buyout if he is hired in 2019 over 2018?

Earlier in the thread someone said his buyout dropped to $1M on 1/1. Don’t know if that’s true or not.

Please make Leach happen.

how do we feel about this? i read this is largest contract ever given out by a non p5 school. at least in terms of yearly salary. and it beats it by a full million, that yall gave out to herman. its crazy how much relative money is in the program

Yes his buyout in 2019 dropped from like 3.5 million to 1million
UH is reportedly paying his buyout as well

Leach should wait on usc to open up next year

This year clearly showed where the ceiling was with Dana. Next year looked to show the floor, then the door.
Great for him, Lyons was never a true believer and it was time for a change.

Better fit would be Texas Tech

Negative nancy you are.
UH is trying hard to get into the big12. If the big12 adds at any point it will be tough to keep them out if the big12 brings in at least 2 team. whenever it happens.
Also they are a top 5 non-P5 school in a huge tv market, so if he can restore what briles left, and have 3 single loss minimum seasons they'll be knocking on the door of the playoffs with an undefeated season.
UH is the easiest path to the 'ship dogg, especially since UH is in the middle of some of the most fertile recruiting lands in the country. It aint easy to get into morgantown, let alone high #s of recruits to sustain.
