So you guys let Big Game Bob tread water forever because he got one title and got his arse kicked by LSU trying for a second? We had the nuts to dump Miles for the same level of performance in a better conference because we are serious about football and winning it all.

After 03, Bob’s worst season was 8 wins, and there were always at least 3 10+ win seasons between those 8 win seasons. No one would have fired him. He went 11-2 and won his conference his last 2 years. Also, he built that Oklahoma team. He didn’t take over for Saban.
ETA: I think Bob is the reason we may be able to pull Riley without OU putting up a huge fight. I think Stoops is ready to get back into coaching, and he would mitigate the sting of us taking LR.

Look, I think Les Miles was about to fall off a cliff in 2016, but can you not see the parallels between the two before that, especially when you account for how shitty the B12 was once the wheels came off Mack Brown at Texas and how much better the SEC was? They had similar records when you take that into account and Miles was fired because he refused to make changes and it was clear he would never compete with Bama. A meaningless bowl win aside, Stoops would have been turned inside out by Saban having to play him home and home every year.
I will say that Stoops at least brought Riley in, but he never fixed their defense and he didn’t do enough to make them a dominant program.
