Hate to be the bearer of bad news...

I'm not here to show anyone up or anything like that--but I felt the need to clear the air.
Nothing is imminent or final with Corey Raymond. In fact, conversations aren't even happening between the two sides at this juncture. Baker hasn't even arrived in Baton Rouge yet and they're closer to naming a DL coach than they are a DB coach. That is their top priority right now.
CRay could end up being the guy, but those conversations are not happening at this time. Feelers were put out, but that's as far as it has gone. I'm no longer on the beat per se, but this is my wheelhouse and I still have friends in low places. Take it for what it's worth, but these are the facts right now.

That isn't imminent either, but those conversations are further along than the ones about DB coaches. They are still compiling one list while actively seeking potential candidates on the other. It's just two different stages of the process right now.

I know this is going to sound like a jerk move, so I apologize in advance.
Yes, there are some names they are vetting and courting, but I am not going to be sharing that. I'm not trying to leak info or upset people. I just wanted to clear the air on the CR situation from my perspective. I probably shouldn't even have mentioned DL, but I was just trying to show they are closer there than they are at DB, simply because of what they are prioritizing at the moment.

I actually do LOL. Whoever it ends up being will get a sleeper that I've been working with the last few weeks. Tulane offered recently and he will likely catch fire soon. LSU is one of his top schools too, so we will see how that works out.
