Dan Mullen was a coordinator just a couple of years ago. Malzahn is 45 years old and knows what he's doing.
How long had Mullen been around college football teams? Oh, doesn't even have a .500 record in the SEC, yet. Jury still out.

Most were a few more than 5 years removed from a high school program. I am not saying he couldn't be successful, but there is more of a risk with someone who lacks experience than someone with experience.

If Malzahn comes, do you think he would bring Trooper with him? We need to put a fence around Thibodaux.

He's been a college coach for less then 5 years
He has been a D-1 OC for 5 years
Chip Kelly had 2 years of D-1 assistant coaching experience when he got the Oregon HC job and that has seemed to work out ok fir them

It's going to be interesting to see what happens to Kelly's popularity on here if Oregon has no answer for Newton and the score is lopsided.

I been thinking LSU should get him, figured I would get bashed for it. He is going to get a head coaching gig somewhere and tear it up.

The score wont be lopsided. Oregon is going to score, surely you dont think that defense is going to all of a sudden stop someone cold? Much less one of the best executing offenses do you? Also, Chip Kelly has been coaching college football for years. He has only been in D1 for four years but he has been at this for awhile.

I didn't say it was going to happen. I don't know what will happen. I was just thinking about the folks who've hopped on his bandwagon and if they'll jump right off IF Oregon is noncompetitive in the game.

100% support Malzahn hire if it is proven he had zero knowledge involvement in pay for play.

So some LSU fans would hire a coordinator (Malzahn) who has never run a college program as a head coach, and hence is unproven, and who a few years ago was coaching HIGH SCHOOL, and would not hire Pelini, who has 3 yrs coaching at freakin' NEBRASKA and has been successful. OK, got it.

Are you a methaddict? I imagine no one had any knowledge of pay for play. Just Cecil and the bank. Everyone else was just blindsided.

yes, I am a meth addict.

How much of Malzahn's success is due only to Cam Newton? A once every 10 years player can make anyone look like a genius.

Didn't AU lead the SEC in offense last year with Chris Todd at QB?

quote:isnt that a novel idea? taking great talent and getting results out of it? yall act like we cant get big time players here, so that skill wont translate. were not ULM. were LSU and we have 5 star skill players all over the offense and we rank in the 90s this year and 100s last. its funny how people use "he was effective with good players" as a knock, like he wouldnt get top end talent here...

I been say Gus Malzahn is our man.
He is the most logical choice for a number of reason. Alleva will have him very high on his list.
