Good move. There's enough coaching changes board to go around for you and Random

They don't have a single top 100 recruit on their roster.
Yet they are ranked in the top 25 every year and are currently ranked 12th.. that's called coaching. Lsu recruits itself, we are a household brand now.. as saban started it. Miles ran with it (and it kept him relative). Gundy would tear it up here with our athletes, hell fedora would too.. they both run the offense that we need... hell fedora was gundys OC for a while! We want one of those two guys. And it's good that gundy is above fedora slightly. It's where he should be honestly.. Chad Morris is another one. But he will get picked up by TAMU next year and he knows it..
You don't want to over pay for fisher he is not on the same level as saban Meyer or Harbough.. he is good but not that damn good.. gundy or fedora paired with Aranda is solid as hell.. and we will always be able to get great up and coming DCs because of our reputation now..

The pay-scale has already gone up. It's not 2010 anymore. You're paying at least $4 million for an experienced head coach in the SEC. Kirby Smart was an assistant last season and he started at $3.75 million. There's virtually no way you get Herman for less than $5 million. He was slated for $5.5 if Houston moved to the Big 12 and he makes $3.5 million now. You don't just want to sign a coach for minimum salary, you want to secure him for a little while.

i never thought we had a shot at herman if strong got fired. gundy has been my #3 all along. gundy would probably be considered one of the top 5-10 coaches in cfb if he wasn't at okie lite.

Let him earn it. It's still a privledge to coach at lsu. Start out at 4-5 million with built in incentives. Then up the deal when they have success.. there are only 3-5 in america that warrant 6-8 million. Saban/Meyer/harbough/belicheck/maybe harbough the elder

I would agree.. that's why we should hire him. He was one of my favorites from the beginning

Gundy is a damn good coach and no one should be suicidal if he's hired.
He's my #3 behind Herman and Jimbo.

This is my stance as well.

I think you are over simplifying things. Empires rise and fall when they get complacent and assume things will fall in their lap.
Soo does UT. Se their current situation.
Aranda will be gone within a year or two. Will they be able to pull another solid D coordinator with their offensive style?
See above two comments. The college football landscape changes yearly with the way contracts are structured and the rapid growth of Salaries.
In this game, you have to keep the pedal to the floor, because one minor miss cue on the coaching circuit could cost you dearly over decades. You go after the proven coaches and let the lesser programs take chances with the inexperienced and risky.
ETA: I like Gundy, but no way I take him over Jimbo.

Fine with Gundy if we strike out. I like Fuente a lot but realize probably not bailing on Va Tech after just one year.

Look at Gundy's W/L record measured against O's.

I would argue Les Miles kick-started Okie Lite's success and Gundy ran with it. They're ranked #12 right now but that's largely in part due to a weak SOS and most of the top teams in America killing themselves off. If we had Gundy I think he's perform a lot like Les did before burning out where we average 10 win seasons but we won't sniff a national title again with him. Oklahoma State is also not as talent sparse as you guys make them out to be. Downvote away boys but I think we need to do better than Gundy!

after gundy, i do think there's a bit of fall off.
gundy will do well here and has had okie lite in the national championship picture a couple time. that's amazing.

I would disagree, but it's an opinion. My only problem with Gundy is whether he's willing to really recruit.

Texas recruited itself until it didn't.

I still think you reach out to Fuente and Franklin through backchannels and see what they say. Probably a waste of time with Franklin, but maybe not with Fuente. I would bet that LSU could outbid VA Tech in a variety of ways.

No one is fricking saying that.. Stop getting your panties in a wad
Gundy has a much better resume than Miles did coming out of the same shite hole school..
Miles delivered a championship. I legitimately think Gundy can do the same
