Auburn was a dumpster fire last year. One year later BCSNC game.

You have no idea. Go spend 30 minutes at River Oaks Country club right now.

All of the drama that has been produced the past few days is Mack's doing.

Meh. I kind of expect it, especially when looking at how Delose handled himself during conference realignment, Major banging the chubby chick while at a bowl game, Bev banging her athletes and then her being forced out, old freak nasty Cleve Bryant getting fired for sexual harassment and the 400k that cost, Bev Kearney's $1 million lawsuit against the university alleging discrimination based on gender and race.

Yep, well oiled athletic department you got there!

AFAIK, only Auburn's football program was a dumpster fire. Please see my earlier post concerning all the other athletic department issues texas has had in the past few years. Their problems are much, much deeper than just football at this point.

As for the search, it was carried out in a systematic, business-like way, which began months ago. Soon, the next coach will be revealed.

And my guess is that it's someone other than Saban.

No doubt it has been stagnant and in need of change for sometime now. That's what happens when you have administrators, coaches, etc in power too long. The cleanup has begun, heads are rolling, heads will be rolling, and the resulting product will be much better. It is already better, but that is just the tip of the iceberg.

What does it matter if Texas is a mess? Wasn't Bama when he took that job? I realize Saban had a lot more incentive to leave where he was to go back to the College game, but he was walking into a tough spot then, as well. They had the Mike Price fiasco, then hired Shula, who went from a 10-0 start in 05 to out the door in 06. Just look at Saban's first season. That team needed a LOT of work and a big talent upgrade.

The current Texas team leaves a lot to be desired, but they STILL came within a game of winning their conference. Saban would have them hammering everyone in year 2. I'm not saying he's leaving, but for a guy who seems to pride himself on rebuilding teams, Texas' current situation doesn't seems like a deciding factor at all.

And I suppose you do. Do you work in the athletic dept or for the 1 or 2 boosters that run your program because the university sure dosen't run it.

I'll just say this - I know a hell of a lot more about this situation than Doyle does and judging from your comments, a ton more than you do.

I hope Saban doesn't leave, just because watching Texas strike out on a handful of big names before hiring someone worse than Mack Brown would be much funnier.

I have no idea what this journalist is talking about, frankly...

What has Texas done exactly? Actually nothing that we know of yet...

yet it doesn't stop this journalist from saying UT is a joke, a mess, whatever.

All the gibberish is coming from social media, that for all we know is coming from fans who have an agenda...or interest, or have heard somethings that could happen..

Wasn't it Nick Saban's wife who was caught in Austin looking at houses and it became a story locally? Yes! And wasn't Nick Saban's wife who make a point to say, "We're not appreciated always but we're staying"

It's not secret the UT faithful are ready for a new coach, a new start, new energy etc... after 16 seasons, OK, let's move on.. What's the big deal?

5.5 Million ain't chump change...

Mack has been paid big time bucks for Mediocrity..

Jimmy Sexton has been leaking all this stuff for his clients benefit... I don't accept the assertion being made in this article..

Big program, big bucks, big desires does not equal a mess, it just means it comes with strings and politics

I've never actually seen any proof of that. Just a lot of "my cousin's best friends sister sells houses and showed Terry a house" - chalk up to another internet rumor until there is some sort of proof.

Hell, he's been treated a hell of a lot better than A&M treated Sherman, firing him while he was in the driveway of a recruit's home.

first, obsession fricking noted

Btw, why was Sherman fired in that manner? Because the decision was made and someone (Bohl I think) leaked it early before they'd had a chance to tell Sherman. So Byrne called him so he didn't have to find out from the press. Mack on the other hand, got a text from Bobby Burton asking him if he'd stepped down. That's how he fricking found out. You really think Mack has been treated better? What planet do you live on?

The entire situation right now in Austin is a 3-ring circus. You have leaks in every direction and no one knows who the frick is in charge. You've got your single biggest booster who you named your stadium after taking shots at your fanbase ffs. The only thing missing at this point is an elephant and a tent. But yeah, it's being handled in a systemic, business-like manner

Saban learned his intimidation tactics in the NFL don't work when the guy he's trying to intimidate makes more than he does. Except for that one Miami rookie he made cry, I mean.

I don't take offense at your statement because I know you are working with a lot less information than I have.

2. For a guy with the massive ego of Nick Saban, it has to eat at him that the football establishment counts him as one of the biggest coaching failures in NFL history. On NFL Network's Top 10 coaches who should have stayed in college, he was #7 on the list.

The guy was 15-17 overall, and in 2005 was 1 game away from winning his division. Even with all the distractions that year, his team managed a 6-10 record, which while not good, isn't that horrible.

The guy wasn't happy in the NFL at that time and he wasn't happy in the situation he was in. I think he copped out by leaving as much as the next guy, but for people to act like he was some type of failure is ridiculous. Miami was the 2nd worst team in the NFL the year before he got there.
