With the loss to WVU today, the Longhorns drop to 5-5, which is enough justification for him to be fired. Sorry, Charlie.

No. They lost by 4 points to the 12th ranked team in the country. They played very well and nearly pulled off the win. Starting a true freshman center, tackle , and quarterback. Very likely Strong back next year assuming texas keeps playing well. They'll at least split last two games and go to bowl.

They will beat Kansas, then it comes down to the TCU game. I think he keeps his job at 7-5.

I disagree. I think he's gone, regardless of what happens from here.

Loss doesn't count. It was on the Longhorn Network, so nobody saw it.

well, come on. rankings are just dumb sometimes and we all know it. western michigan is in front of us right now and LSU would hold them to -100 yards. the reality is that WV is not a tier 1 program and should not be beating Texas except as the occasional random fluke, which this wasnt.

West Virginia is 8-1. This is not a loss where you fire the coach. Good lord. The last two games will tell the story. The way texas is playing , they'll win both.

And the fact that they haven't doesn't tell you anything?

they aren't going to fire strong in the middle of the season especially when they're not sure whether or not they will get Herman. You expect them to fire strong, name an interim while they wait until end of the season for Herman, who isn't a guarantee b/c he might go to LSU? Even if texas and Herman have agreed in principle behind closed doors, they're still going to wait until after the season before making any moves or announcements.

Texas isn't going to fire strong unless they know Herman is a guarantee

His team is young, talented and improving but I'm not sure Charlie and his staff are keeping up.

Their kicking unit is still so bad that when they had another block, the network already had a season-long fail montage ready.

With only four minutes left, still four points down and on their side of the field he changes to a clock-eating offense that you're supposed to use when you're four points up. It painted them into a corner and let WVU run it down to just over a minute.

Every game I watch of theirs he seems to make some some strange moves. He has the horses but they'll have a ceiling on their success unless their coaches can clean some things up.

Oh hes gone. Texas is looking for a way to get rid of him for Herman.

He's far from a guarantee. That's my point. Another way to look at is that texas is giving strong the chance to finish on a good note and save his job because they have not gotten the feedback they'd hoped to get from Herman. If they finish 7-5, 4-1 in the last 5 games starting a bunch of true freshman and sophomores, it's gonna look silly to fire him. The fact that texas has left that door open is telling.
