However, he can get a DC job for $500,000 a year and still make $3m a year with the buyout. Wouldn't you do the same thing? He is making SEC HC money and only has to be a DC. Easy deal for Chiz....

Chizik head back to UT? Funny thing, he was the one that recommended Manny Diaz to Mack.

He would be a great pick up for Texas.

Their D needs some work, and he's a proven winner in that faculty.

Not to mention his recruiting ability and familiarity with the South

The scene in Mack Brown's office.

Brown: "So, tell me Coach, what do you love about coaching defense?"

Chiz: "I love carpet. I love desk."

Brown: "Gene, are you just looking at things in the office and saying that you love them?"

Chiz: "I love lamp."

Brown: "Do you really love the lamp, or are you just saying it because you saw it?"

Chiz: "I love lamp! I love lamp!"

Brown: "So, what's up with the 87-0 showing in your last two games."

Chiz: "BVG's 'stach is funny looking."

Brown: "So, you really lost to John L. Smith?"

Chiz: "I coached Cam Newton."

Brown: "You're Hired!"

I hope you copy and pasted that from somewhere and didn't spend time writing all that out.

Isn't he a pretty decent guy, or was it just an act? Seems like he's a little lacking in the personality department. Wish him well.

He was DC on their '05 NC team. Unfortunately for Texas, Chizik can't bring Vince Young or Cam Newton with him.

no team in the NCAA is going to give him that title. He wouldn't get named HC in waiting at Colorado St. right now.

He'll be the next head coach at Muscle Shoals HS. It's apparently where terrible SEC HC's that got famous off of a good QB finish their careers.

I would be surprised since I am becoming more and more sure that Mack is gone after the drubbing KState will give us (I mean, case McCoy is starting and our punter is backing him up...someone shoot me now).

And I don't think the Chiz is interviewing for the HC position.

Agree completely. Diaz hired away? Chiz replaces.

If I thought Mack was staying then it's plausible. But I don't think that.

Lulz. Have fun playing your CBs 15 yards off the WRs every play.

I actually think this is the best thing he could do. Mack Brown is desperate right now and Chiz may be able to buy his some time as DC. As bad as Chiz was as a HC, he was a damn good coordinator with 2 undefeated seasons under his belt.

Being an assistant coach at Texas is as good as being a HC at a lower level school, why wouldnt he take the job?

You realize we have experienced the Chiz before right?

he is better than what we have now - but I will maintain he's not going to be the DC.
