Tommy Rees staying too. Can’t wait to beat both of their asses for years to come. You don’t want to be apart of greatness? Then frick you

Seems like he might be promoted to DC now. If not, I’d say there’s a good chance he comes—he’s been with Kelly since CMU.

Yep.
Players lobbying for him.
Not a good idea.

All their fans ive seen online are rejoicing like they just made the best hire of the cycle.
Ive even seen some say its an upgrade over kelly,

It’s like they are pretending ND wasn’t a dumpster fire when Kelly was brought in. Oh well, I’m sure Freeman and Rees will do more than match the winningest coach in their storied program’s history.

Fickell said no I guess

Pathetic move by Irish.

Yep. Not a lot of experience as a DC and zero as a HC.
High risk, high reward hire.

I get Freeman for HC OR Rees staying as OC, but both? That's as green of a top two guys as you can get.
I realize if they make an outside HC hire, then Rees probably doesn't get the OC position, but I really can't believe they hired both these guys together. Maybe it'll work out, but sheesh. Freeman is 35 and Rees is 29. They'll probably recruit like crazy but they better win too if they want to sustain it.
I know Freeman is a great DC, but I hope he brings in someone experienced so he's not having to do the heavy lifting of the defensive gameplan and can focus on getting his feet under him as HC.

So LSU offers to make Freeman the highest paid DC in NCAA and you think this means Jones gets out front? Do you realize how many other elite DC names are still in play for the kind of money LSU is offering? Jones has zero shot to be retained. Everyone else would have to say no. He had his shot and he didn't do a good enough job. We're not a job for a guy to learn on it for the money he's making. You Jones simps are baffling. You excite the fanbase with a new hire which brings in exciting assistants with him. Jones does nothing for us.
I'm thinking they're going to give DC to Elston and basically stonewall BK.

I'm happy for the guy. Obviously made the right decision last year. Risky hire, but hell it could pay off big.

Doubt they want to wait a month for Fickell so he probably wasn't really considered.
Campbell is the one who's in an interesting position. Is he now looking at having to stick at Iowa St. and doing a rebuild with that senior class leaving?
Posted on 12/1/21 at 9:48 pm to ExpertTestimony
Yeah thus is crazy to me. I don't think a school of ND caliber should be hiring first time HC
Posted on 12/1/21 at 9:58 pm to ExpertTestimony
OVERRATED AS shite. NEVER COACHED A REAL frickING GAME IN HIS LIFE. WILL FAIL AS NOTRE DAME’S HEAD COACH.

Riley was a risk for OU. He'd only been an OC for a few years and got handed the reins to arguably one of top programs in the country.

Yeah. Freeman is a damn good coach and will be an HC soon enough. OSU did it with Day. Oklahoma did it with Riley. Both of those have worked quite well.
You don’t need to hire an HC with 20 years of HC experience for it to work out.
