Frank Wilson and the future of LSU football

Frank would've continued to be a great asset on the trail. That's true.
What's also true is that LSU has won two titles while Frank was at other schools (one while he was in the SEC at Ole Miss) and has recruited Louisiana just fine with and without him
Smith is a tremendous developer of talent, and that's what this running game needs. It's been nearly half a decade since our last thousand yard rusher.
Frank will likely do pretty well at Ole Miss. Undoubtedly they will recruit the state of Louisiana, but I don't see them landing many, if any, notable prospects.
LSU isn't defined by Frank. There's been success before him and there will continue to be success after him. I wish him well and hope he enjoys his time in Oxford, but this isn't going to tear the Louisiana wall down.

Any word on when Smith will be announced for us lsufan? I’m ready for us to have a running game again

And Ole Miss’ success WAS defined by Kiffin. Their crash back to reality will come swiftly.

The funniest thing is that LSUs running game has been hot dogshit lately.

Honestly? I was shocked by the Frank news tonight. I figured we would be waiting for the bowl game on that front
Now that it's out there, I don't see any reason to wait. If Frank's role at Ole Miss was undetermined, then yeah I'd get it but it's been reported that he will be the new RB coach. You don't need a RB coach unless yours is on the way out.
So I truly think it could be any day now, CFP and all.

Outside of Daniels, it’s been dog shite since 2020.
Best of luck to FW, but I’m very happy LSU is going a different direction.

Wilson was brought back because Kelly had zero connections to recruiting in LSU’s footprint.
He’s no longer needed for that. Kiffin and his staff know the area fine. Wilson’s results as RB coach since he returned haven’t just been not very good, they’ve been downright poor.
LSU will be fine

Why would it tear the wall down? Ole Miss doesn't have the money to compete with LSU. That alone makes a huge difference.

The LSU brand is bigger than any one coach with New Orleans ties. If LSU needs help with a recruit, LF7 and Tyrann will reach out.
The only purple and gold Frank Wilson ever bled was for St. Aug.

Their fans will say otherwise, but it’s more expensive recruiting out of state and they have not been willing to spend their NIL resources on high school recruiting in recent years. If they continue to focus most of their money on the portal, then they won’t make any major inroads with top recruits in LA.

If Ole Miss is hiring Wilson as RB coach, there’s no mystery where Smith will be next year. It answer the question on both sides of the equation. There’s a reason Smith didn’t get on the plane like the other offensive coaches. He doesn’t want to broadcast anything until the playoffs are done. That’s when we’ll know officially.

LSU’s best recruiter is the LSU brand, not Frank Wilson. When LSU is winning and having success, kids from Louisiana are going to want to come here especially if NIL is involved. This idea that FW is the only recruiter who can get in the door of local NOLA high schools is laughable. Any coach representing LSU will have access, wha matters is are you successful, can you develop, and NIL.
