He pretty much sealed his fate when the first thing he did as Bama's head coach was tear down Bear's tower at the practice field.

It was a no-win situation for him at Alabama. No one was going to succeed immediately following Bryant.

This is an odd hire, even for a junior college. Perkins has coached full-time since 2000. He has recently "helped" with junior high team at Presbyterian Christian School in Hattiesburg.

No one hates Ray Perkins. He's remembered pretty fondly. His coaching tenure had its ups-and-downs, but no one was going to have an easy time after Bryant retired. Perkins was a very popular player in the 60s.
And take it up with the SID, if you don't like Alabama's claims. It's no different than the process that Michigan has used forever. I don't think anyone is going to argue 1941 with you, but let us at least the put the 20s and 30s Rose Bowl teams in perspective. But, by all means, continue with your flaming.

By being out of coaching since 2000. Perkins was in the NFL for nearly 15 years after leaving Alabama in 1986.
Now, "falling far" is Mike Dubose. He was fired in 2000, and was coaching in high school in 2002. He finally made it back to college football by coaching in Division 3. He was the DL coach at Memphis.

It was a pretty damn big symbol of Bryant's reign over the Alabama program.
But like I stated earlier in this thread, any coach that followed Bryant was in a no-win situation.

Sounds like the old man got bored making birdhouses and wanted a low pressure coaching gig. More power to him. Do what you love.
