I depends. Hard to answer it because recruiting is probably the biggest factor in that. Recruiting G5 is different from recruiting P5 at a school like lsu

I mean, if Miles and O can win one, then absolutely. I think the real question is how quickly can he bring the program back.

I truly believe Napier is a fantastic coach and will win championships one day. If he were having the same success at ANY P5 school he’d have been hired already. But when you put him up against the Riley’s of CFB, it’s a no brainer. Don’t get me wrong, in all likelihood he’s the fall back guy and will do great things at LSU if we end up with him.

While I agree with you, Napier does have an advantage being in the state. These kids know who he is even if they would never go to UL because they have bigger aspirations. He’s also got great relationships with the HS school coaches in Louisiana and the outlier states. Not to mention he’s been a top recruiter nationally during his stops at Clemson and Bama.

We could do much, much worse.

I think so. Combine his program design philosophy with LSU’s resources and talent base, and you have the makings of a consistent winner.

At Bama he recruited 4 5 stars and 16 4 stars, that signed with Bama, including Cam Robinson and Hootie Jones,

Or you can look at it this way - in the 3 years since he took over a losing program he’s led them to the conference championship EVERY season (last year canceled due to Covid outbreak). And it’s about to be 4/4 conf championship games.

Riley is a grand slam if you pull it off. But following your logic LR is 0-3 in playoff games. Does that give you pause?

Napier would be a solid hire. I'm hoping for Riley or Aranda but will be absolutely fine with Napier. All 3 can and would win national championships at lsu

I just started following recruiting back then but wasn't Hootie a include to get Cam Robinson. I'm pretty sure he wasn't believed to be good enough for Bama. That's why when the gun incident went down at Forsythe Park Cam got off and Hootie got the boot. Am I remembering that right?

I answered the question. Napier hasn't won an Sunbelt Championship game. Riley has won his Conference Championship game 3 out of 4 years.

He’s put the Cajuns in the Top 25 in two straight consecutive seasons which is a miracle in itself. Give him 4x the financial resources in BR, and he will be vying for a playoff spot real soon. Plus, he’s structured to the core. He basically took Saban’s “process” model and implemented it at UL step by step. He’d win a title at LSU.
