one of 2 things is going on here:
1) This is a dog and pony show to show he's doing his due diligence "Look we interviewed numerous guys, but Brick is the best fit for us."
2) Les just completely fricked this thing up....badly.
I think I'd prefer to believe its #1

I don't know, but the fact that Coach O hasn't taken another job yet has me hopeful. If brick is to be promoted, the only thing that'll soften the blow a little is bringing in Bebe. Still wouldn't be a "slam dunk" but it'd be better than some of the other options floating around IMO.(Stoops, Steele etc.)

alleva let him do it by letting the assistants sign extensions first.
That gets me the most angry about the situation because in all the scenarios about bringing in a new DC, having the assistants locked up to where the new guy cant bring his people in makes the most sense why there has been hiring issues.

You call it rejection where a guy gets a pay raise at his "dream school" to stay? That would be rejection in the loosest terms.
Then why the frick do you interview him if you know he's at his "dream school". That's bullshite.

That's it? The only scenarios?

Because he would have gotten a substantial raise at LSU. But PSU gave him a raise.

Because you can offer him a lot more money than he was making.

If Haley ends up being promoted, you must call Orgeron. Haley moves up and focuses his time on calling the defense. Let Ed come in and run the line and recruit. Everyone knows he is a stud at recruiting.
If Haley is promoted and they don't even attempt to hire Orgeron, I will be upset and consider it a gigantic failure of Les Miles and Joe Alleva.

It's only been an in issue with Pendergrast
Durkin already had a job lined up, so he was not interested.
Shoop got a raise.
LSU was never interested in Stoops.

Has the ship completely sailed on this option?

I think the answer to this:
is this:
Stop the bleeding!
quote:
there have been countless posts defending the option, or making commentary like this "why is brick a bad option?"
is this:
quote:
our brand is being tarnished with every rejection.
Stop the bleeding!

I don't think anyone knows. Everything's been so quiet, besides the shoop stuff.

if Brick is promoted, I can't see how one could even argue he's the best available. The DC job here is an easy spring board to a power conference HC job, we can't seem to get anyone seriously interested. Doesn't make a whole hell of a lot of sense.

Muschamp = DC at Auburn, Texas then HC at UF
Pelini = HC at Nebraska
Peveto = HC at Northwestern State
Chavis = $1.7 in salary at A&M

i'd rather remain calm and try to feel good about the situation then completely melt down and shite my pants over a 1 week DC search like many of you

Yeah, I'm not sure why everyone goes from 0 to suicide on every tid bit of information that comes out and they always think the worst of the situation.

its an even better gig when you figure Les gives his DCs total autonomy on that side of the ball. So great pay, free reign, and spring board to a big job.......and yet nothing? Its just a weird situation. From the very beginning, running interviews through his agent's office just seemed odd. I don't know man...
God I hope a mystery candidate emerges, but the latest name (Oregon DC) doesn't even seem remotely possible.
