Arkansas only stands to lose from playing A State

Win? Oh well you're SEC blah blah blah you should've won by more blah blah blah

Lose once? Haha you losers are supposed to be SEC blah blah blah we're the best program in the state blah blah blah. They'd never stop talking about that one time they won.

So no, we'll never play them and that's how it should be. No reason to give them any legitimacy.

So basically you're saying you're scared that it might tarnish your reputation? The real fact is that you are scared you might lose some of your fan base. That is very understandable when putting a less than expected product on the field. Win nine, ten or eleven games in four out of five years and you won't have that problem.

Also, instead of keeping 1.5 million in the state for a state supported school whose backers also finance the U of A, let's send that money out of state to someone we don't have a care in the world for and vice versa. Yeah, that's really being a little smug in my book.

You never really refuted my point that we stand to gain nothing from playing them

Well, that settles it. I don't know why even want to play UA when you have those scores as proof.

They don't, just more to lose by playing State.

BTW, I'm sure you were "merely asking", that is why you posted both scores

I love how people rail just not playing state. But the University wont play anyone in state in any sport, and that is how it should be.

People forget the idiocy Gus said his year over there, and that cemented it. Plus state on your resume is a KOD for anything Arkansas.

These may not be enough for you, but they are legitimate positives from playing other in-state schools.

1. Political good will- Like LSU, Arkansas grads probably have a solid hold on politics in the state. However, scratching the back of the other team gets the State crowd in your corner when you need them to sign off on something.

2. Guaranteed Full Stadium and Traveling Fans- Let’s be real. Sometimes every seat in an SEC stadium isn’t full for a non con matchup against a nobody. It is if you are playing and in-state school. Also, you will get more local economic impact from fans who travel.

3. Keeps money in your home state- Again, this is a political win.

4. It Saves Money- You usually don’t have to lay out near as much of a guarantee for an in-state game. Their expenses won’t be as large and they will make money from their fans.

5. Better Qualify Win- A win over a good Sun Belt program may not be amazing, but it does more for you than an FCS opponent.

Skip Bertman helped the state of Louisiana quite a bit by playing out of state schools in both baseball and football. His decisions won the school a lot of goodwill. It was a positive move in the long run.
