We definitely need Wilson to stay and our defensive staff to stay together, everyone else can go

How many Southern California contacts did Harbaugh have?? He has name recognition and NFL pedigree. If Miles leaves Gruden will be our next coach.....

While this would be ideal, its highly unlikely. A new coach is bringing the staff he wants, unless we hire someone obscure and force this staff on him.
A high profile guy isn't taking the job if the powers that be instruct him to keep certain holdovers.

Jimbo is not well respected in Lousiana, if he was, more kids from La. would be on FSU's roster....
Pelini will not be the choice
Gruden will be next coach if Miles leaves

Yeaa...no.
Jimbo was very good when he was here. He has been very good at every place he has been. And he is making FSU the premier program in Florida once again.
I would love to have Jimbo back in Baton Rouge. And my opinion about him has not changed since he was first here in 2000...even after the close loss to Auburn when 90% of the people on here said he sucked.

No Pelini--he is too out of control of his emotions.
We don't need someone of his character at LSU. It's one thing to act like that as an assistant coach, but the head coach needs to keep a level head.

I don't listen to anyone under 30 on this board because they are all morons. But does anyone over 30 actually think Gruden would come to LSU? And if so why? What does he know about recruiting? What's stopping him from taking the next NFL job soon after? Ita stupid to even think about.
I'm closer to 40 than 30, so I'll answer that.
What you may not remember is that Gruden has been mentioned for the LSU job during previous hires. Surprisingly, his name was mentioned back when we hired Saban. My guess is that a big time college job was always something he would consider and his agent was sniffing around when a big job would come up.
Secondly, the fact that he was named in other schools searches tells me that he may be willing to listen.
In the end, I don't think he would come. I'd put the chances at about 5%. Nevertheless, if I'm AD, I definitely make the call and gauge interest. It's not a crazy proposition, and LSU pays coaches pretty close to the median salary average in the NFL.
LSU should aim high on this hire if it needs to.

I just don't believe he's interested in coaching anywhere but in the NFL. Even so, how would LSU handle Tampa Bay's remaining year of their buyout obligation to Gruden? Michigan's buyout of Miles contract would barely put a dent in it.

LOL, mentioned by who ? Some idiot reporter ? LOL, LSU NEVER seriously considered him. Just because some idiot on the internet did doesn't make it true.

the only asst. coach that I can foresee LSU requiring retention is Moffitt.

Wow, people's opinions change so quickly. 2 years ago Bo was head and shoulders above Jimbo around here. It wasn't even close. One good year (good not great) for JF and one Big 12 Champ game loss for Bo later it is reversed. I don't really want either, just amazing how fast people swing with the hot name on this board.
