Billy G...Wtf man?

No clue. But this is quite shocking.

My thoughts exactly. What the HE!! is going on here? And to LSU no less? To do the same thing he is going at UF. Something went wrong. Maybe because he wasnt promoted to OC and Addazio was. This is a HUGE Shock!!!

I'm speechless.
quote:
i would have promoted BG first before SA
quote:
Why LSU?
Sucks due to the depth at WR we have with Hines, Hammonds, Debose, Thompson
quote:
Had to check to see if the rumors were true . What in the name of black-strap molassess does L$U offer that UF does'nt ?
I would think with the way everything is currently stacked with you guys Gonzalez would be rubbing his hands together in glee. Ye Gods !

WTF is going on?
quote:
Weak. How do we lose our wr coach, when he will just be a wr coach at lsu?
quote:
frick.
quote:
i think he'll be good, he's in on the game planning and he's going to spread the ball around to his playmakers which LSU seems to not do. should work out well, Im pissed about him leaving
quote:
I like the guy and was unhappy that Addazio was our OC this season instead of Billy G.

Maybe this will shut up some of the morons that aren't happy about the hire.

so we're happy that they're basically calling LSU a shitty program by being stunned at his move over here?

Honestly, I think we would be equally shocked if Chavis went to be their DC or Cooper became the secondary coach. It's essentially a lateral move although we don't know the extent of his raise.

I see that being the minority.
Seems like they're more stunned because this is out of the blue.
Also seems like they're a little unhappy with how Meyer handled the off-season OC change after Mullen left.

I'm glad their world is crashing in on them.

If we are honest to ourselves, we should agree and accept that in the past 20 years, Florida has been a better (if only slightly) program than LSU in terms of name recognition and in MNC/Division/Conference titles - mainly due to the flair of Spurrier and lady luck abetting Meyer in an unprecedented 2 titles in 3 years.
Having said that - is it surprising that they are surprised and unhappy that a popular coach is leaving for a lateral move in terms of career?

It would be like us losing porter to UGA to be their RB coach, it just wouldn't make sense. This is a homefrickingrun hire

UF tears are a beautiful thing...
If Saban bolts for ND after the MNCG I am willing to call this a successful season...

It's a great hire, but keep in mind Gonzalez will coach the WRs, but will also be LSU's "Passing Game Coordinator," (a new job title for LSU), working under Crowden. Don't blame that title on me, that's their plan. He was pissed he didn't get the Fla. OC job, and probably feels he can get the LSU OC position depending on when Crowden's gone...

I was too young to remember this but werent a few people pissed when Arnsparger left LSU to be Florida's AD. I understand its a different position and dont really know the circumstances but could someone enlighten me on the general feeling back then?

I wasn't too young, and I wasn't happy then. We looked like we were getting ready to explode, and the Arnsparger bailed on us. ... but I really wasn't happy when his hand-picked replacement let us drift back into the pack... very sad.

He wanted to be A.D. at LSU, right? It seems like he was disgusted with the old boy network that was shoving him out, rather than really wanting to bail on LSU in favor of UF.
I was really, really young at the time, so I don't have the best grasp on what the fanbase was thinking back then, but Archer seemed to be a sentimental favorite, and as I recall, an endorsement from Arnsparger carried a lot of weight with fans. Still, I do seem to remember that a lot of the common rabble did feel somewhat betrayed by Arnsparger in future years.
