Besides Gary Patterson and Chris Peterson... Who would we want? Our options are so slim right now. Also, the first thing the new head coach will do when he steps on campus is set Crowton's office on fire. So we need a new OC as well. Let's just hope one of the guys we want isn't offered any big time jobs.

Sure hope so. Alleva should already have put out informal, quiet feelers. Laugh all you want but the first call should be made to Gruden. After that, I'd make a serious effort at hiring Gary Patterson away from TCU. The fact that Florida had to hire a coordinator (admittedly, Muschamp is highly-regarded and indeed, might have been LSU's choice should Miles leave) does not bode well -- does it mean that LSU will need to look in the coordinator ranks? A few other potential names in the mix - Pinkel? Skip Holtz? Malzahn? A promising up and coming African American coach like Turner Gill or Charley Strong?

My worry is that the LSU back-up plan for if this were to happen may have just taken the UF job.

Mike Nolan is ready for Muschamp

I'm pretty positive that UMich *will* fire RR after the bowl game. They save some serious $$$ waiting until then.
So, Eggs/Books, y'all are playing out the scenario of CLM going to UM if that happens? Plausible, especially since I also am in the camp of Harbaugh-to-NFL.
If that happens, mamma calls Saban. Done!

Chicken,
Who else do you think would be on LSU's short list?

would I get stoned here if I mention Petrino?

I'd be interested in Nolan.

No way Miles denies Michigan twice. If they offer, he is gone.

from orangebloods on the timing:
quote:
1. Florida swooped in this morning and it happened very fast.
2. Muschamp did not have a timeline for when he would take over at UT.

Mike Leach, 3 birds with one stone.
Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator, and QB coach.

While I don't like Petrino at all as a human being, I think he'd absolutely kill it at LSU.
Patterson at TCU is intriguing, mainly because he would keep the LSU defensive tradition going. (I can stomach LSU winning 17-13 and having a great defense as I've come to expect. I can't stomach a good offense and bad defense.) And probably be able to get a good OC.
If LSU really wanted to get risky: Malzahn.

If UM doesn't get JH they want LM so Choc and UC will have some fans who appreciate them.q

I don't think Les will turn UM down if they offer nor should he.
But if he leaves, I would love to see us hire Patterson from TCU. As long as that's a possibility we're ok for now.

Yeah because UF and foley only being able to hire Muschamp is a great sign that we will get better than MIles
Has nothing to do with who LSU gets.
