If this is truly the current state of the search then someone with some pull needs to call Hugh Freeze now and get his arse to BR! Hell, he’s a better coach than Riley or Aranda and if we’re down to Stoops etc then Freeze is your man. Go get him Scott.

Failed miserably is hiring Ed Orgeron to coach LSU. It is not failing miserably if you go after 2 of the highest paid coaches in the country at top P5 programs and can't sway them. That is swinging for the fences and there are a lot of great options after those two.

I love how so many people think that LSU could just swoop in and steal Aranda, no problem. We would be fortunate to have him as out next HC.

Has he ever "choked" hiring a head coach?
Choking is hiring a meat head defensive line coach that was 3-21 in the SEC as head coach of Ole Miss. Choking is not hiring Dave Aranda, Mel Tucker, or Napier. Those guys would all do very well at LSU.
