Regardless of people's opinions on the guy, you are absolutely correct about this. Paul has tons of SEC connections. He's basically OG SEC sports.

So, in his estimation, LSU is in a better position for success, right away, and has higher expectations as a result? Definitely sounds like the job to avoid.

If Lane is worried about that then he should just stay at OM, but I don’t think that stuff scares him

It’s unbelievable the amount of relevant Lebowski quotes I’ve used during this coaching search

What kind of medication is that old man on?

He never liked LSU and always take shots at the state and its people, and began his early journalism years in Louisiana. When you watch his show, just listen to his comments about the state and even this BS about FL. F@@K Finebaum..

He’s been a boring stale person for some time now. Why ESPN picked him up is beyond me. It was probably because of the entertainment those inbred bammers brought each day, but overall the show was dry and boring, and hasn’t changed much.

He’s smart and follows the SEC religiously, but his takes are sometimes head scratchers. Plus the years of Bama obsession I don’t trust anything he says about LSU now.

I mean he's not really wrong. Kelly was:

10-4
10-3
9-4
5-3

That's not a disaster and would be considered good. There are plenty of schools that would kill to have a coach with those records.

Billy Napier's record was a disaster. His best season was 8 wins.

Schools that don’t compete for championships.
3 loses doesn’t cut it at LSU, just because you won 9 games and a meaningless bowl to get 10.

Look at the stats. Daniels inflated the rushing stats, but LSU couldn’t run the ball for his entire tenure.
The year we had the worst defense in LSU history.

The records are deceiving. He had LSU going in the wrong direction. Those are the facts.

His teams were no doubt flawed, but he still won plenty of games. I would say his teams weren't getting worse or better but more so they just stagnated on that 9-10 win line.

You’re right, we should’ve been happy with Kelly getting embarrassed on the road at OM and Vandy, then getting skull drug on his own field in primetime by a program we’re supposed to be better than. Kiffin would never want to live up to those expectations

The funny thing about this is Landry is a main reason he didn't head to Auburn in 2022 and she seems to favor LSU, but that aspect of the family apparently doesn't matter anymore I guess.

I also find it funny that these national talking heads all use the fact that Florida has sucked worse over the past 4 years as a reason Lane should go there instead of LSU.

Can't stand when people act this way. They are afraid of what LSU could be. They don't want what's best for LSU.

Florida has fired coaches left and right. LSU actually stuck with Miles quite a while.

Right? It's absolutely absurd. Florida has been firing coaches like crazy.

BK was destroying LSU. He had to go.

Finebaum’s brain is smoother than his bald head. When you’re making that much money your wife flying to visit family as much as she wants isn’t really an issue. Florida looking bad somehow makes it a better job? How does this loser get a job covering sports seriously?
