Feels like schools will be sprinting to hire Jim Leonhard for DC

Notably alabama, assuming Sabes finally gives up on his BBQ buddy Golding
Would love for LSU to make a move if House gets a job.
Wonder if Leonhard would be in the mix as HC at places like Colorado or Stanford as well

Can’t see Leonhard going to Bama unless he has aspirations for a NFL gig

I think it’s college HC or NFL DC.

Would love house to go and us get Leonhard especially after the shite show last night

Assuming we could meet his salary demands, I would love him at Tulane now that Fritz is not here.

Think folks need to know a little about Jimmy, too - he's very oriented around his family. Both from small towns in Wisconsin and I don't think either envisioned leaving the state again. Today was definitely a big turning point in their lives, but this decision will be much more than football. I cannot imagine they relocate into the south. If I were a betting man, Joe Barry is fired and Jimmy doesn't pass on the Green Bay DC job again.
Fickell is exciting, and I'm 100% onboard, but this was a really difficult day for Wisconsin; it happened at the expense of one of the most-beloved alums. Jimmy represented the foundation of how Barry Alvarez built the program.

I can respect the appreciation for one of your own. And, yeah, I’m sure it hurts to crush the dream of one of your own.
From the outside, though, you may have dodged a bullet. Hard to learn how to be a head coach at a big-time job like Wisconsin.
And Scott Frost found out that even coaching success elsewhere doesn’t mean the local boy coming home knocks it out of the park at home.
Not saying Leonhard would not have succeeded, but at least Fickell has had some success after learning how to be a head coach at Cincinnati. Maybe Leonhard takes the same career path Fickell took after an interim head coaching stint at his alma mater.

Seeing his roots there, any chance Leonard stays as DC?

Exactly how most Wisconsin fans feel. Jimmy has given everything he could to this university, both as player and coach, so it was definitely a weird day for Wisconsin fans... We are incredibly excited about Luke Fickell, and it was the right move, but the cost really, really stings.
Fickell is simply a good dude. This happened at one point to him, too, so he can empathize with Jimmy and help the players. Emotions still raw - players saw two beloved coaches fired / passed over, went through the passing of Devin Chandler at UVA and RB coach passed away in the spring. Fragile situation, but initial reports are the team meeting went very well last night.

I have no inside knowledge about Jimmy's future at Wisconsin, but I struggle to see a scenario for which he stays. Nothing against Fickell, but Jimmy may just feel too betrayed to stay under this administration. Also, wouldn't be surprised if his staying could divide the locker room. Think there's just too much there for it to work, but I'm not the one behind closed doors.
Whatever does happen, I will root like hell for Jimmy to succeed.

I agree this was, ultimately, the right move. Wisconsin had gotten so incestuous with hires over the years and, honestly, the program was falling behind in the new CFB landscape. If you blow it up, this was the coach to do it for.

He can be a head coach if he wants to be. Cincy seems like a perfect spot for him.
