Kirby Smart top candidate and Tom Herman has removed his name from consideration. Makes you wonder if he is the backup plan when Fisher stays at FSU.

Hermann may may a good choice. I parallel that with Jim McElwain. He turned out well at Florida. The same can happen at LSU.

I've seen it mentioned here before, and I agree, Herman is a lot like Urban Meyer at Utah. I think he would do great here.

Would Herman meet the criterion of "experienced" coach as many have said Alleva is looking for? (Not dogging Herman, just genuinely curious.)

ehh, kinda sorta but not really
Meyer was at Bowling Green for 2 years and then Utah for 2 years as the HC. That's a decent amount more experience running his own program than Herman.

I just can't see LSU buying out Miles for 15m + staff to hire the coach from Houston.
Besides, this is all play. Les isn't going anywhere, and I like it that way.

McElwain also head coached 3 years until he got the job.

Miles is out, that much we do know...If it were not so, then Alleva would have come out and prevented all this damage we see happening on ESPN and the recruiting trail with decommitts and other rumblings.
