If he can bring in top 2 recruiting classes regularly he should be given the HC job, that is how Alabama wins.
The difference in talent between Bama and LSU is not great enough to account for how dominant they've been over LSU.

Absolutely not. Show me one year that Saban has won without talent advantage and we are not talking having better talent we are talking about #1 recruiting class year after year. It is amazing that Saban loses some games with those players.
is this satire?
am i being trolled?

So it's your assertion that the most talented team always wins the NC?
What about those years when FSU and OSU won?

Given the same talent Saban would not be in mu top 7 list to lead my team.

Thank you an honest, no b.s. post from a Obama fan, the day before our contest no less.
I would like to wish you good luck, but I just cannot, it wouldn't be honest.
I will just say, I hope neither team has any serious injuries.

He's literally done NOTHING wrong since taking the job... you'd have to be a pretty tight arse to not at least admit he's growing on you
Not talking about you AUCE
Not talking about you AUCE

shite I could go on forever. The 2008 team had so many players who weren't recruited very hard.

I'm not saying he's the best gameday coach. But there's more to running a program than just recruiting and gameday shite.
You're fricking off your rocker.

He has proven himself to be the biggest idiot on this board.

No there is not, recruiting is 95% and maybe game day coaching is 4%, the rest of your shite ain't worth 1%.

Do you realize how important putting together a staff is? It's the most underrated part of what Saban brings. And the things coaches do for the university? And the structure they create throughout the week and weeks and months and year and years?
frick. The staff Saban would build would put him in your top 5 all by itself.
Jesus, man

There is nothing special about Saban as a coach other than the talent he brings in. He's a good coach, but no better than a Mullen or a Freeze, just with infinitely better talent to work with
Will someone please use this as a sig quote? I still like my sig quote at the moment.

yeah, Sabans spartan teams were stocked with 4 and 5 stars, he even had a few 6 stars.

That's nothing. If O does well tomorrow, prepare yourself for the "O is just as good or better than Saban" comments.
how else would you explain it? If LSU , led by Coach Orgeron, overcomes the great talent advantage that Bama has and the biased officiating as well, to somehow pull a miracle out his arse and win this game. What could it be attributed to other than that coach O is just a much better game day coach and all around better coach than Saban?

no way. Recruiting is about 80% of it and there is not coach in the history of college football that can come close to Saban in that category. Game day coaching is about 10% and pre game prep, spring summer camps etc. is another 10%. Saban is undisputed master of the first category but he is no Urban Meyer or Harbaugh when it comes to the other two catagories. He is competent at it like many other coaches, but he is no genius at it aor anything like he sometimes played up to be.
If Orgeron can at least get close to Saban in recruiting I think he will surpass him in the other catagories. But we still have to wait and see how its all plays out. This and the rest of the season is Orgerons interview.

I agree. The problem with LSU is that we never have good talent.
True, talent hasn't been the problem. But he has gone 3-0 with talent and if he wins tomorrow that tells me all we need is to keep bringing in talent bc he obviously can coach said talent, unlike the previous regime. I don't see why that is so hard for some to hear.

I doubt many people would disagree with that comment if they really followed it.
But, he has the ability to realize that he has to change with the times and that in itself is a huge plus. Is he himself particulary great at any particular facets of coaching? not really, but he's also not bad at any of them. So all in all I would put him in the upper 25 percentile of coaches just based off of coaching ability and not taking into account recruiting or the gathering of talent.
You put Saban at Mississippi St. with the talent that is there and you wouldn't expect to get any better results than Mullen has gotton there. But if you took an Urban Meyer or a Harbaugh and put them there, I think you would see improvement.

Let me throw some facts out at ya.. Here's LSU's four recruiting class rankings leading up to their 2003 Nat'l Championship:
24/7-
1999- ? in recruiting
2000-#21 in recruiting
2001- #2 in recruiting
2002- #21 in recruiting
ESPN/Lemming-
1999- #9 in recruiting
2000-below 10
2001- #3
2002-below 10
2003- BCS Championship
None of these were #1 recruiting classes. Not one.. Yet we still won the 2003 Nat'l Championship. So tell me again how it's not Saban.

recruiting rankings were pretty arbitrary back then. There was no real science to it like there is today. That team was loaded with top talent.
Matt Mauck , Jarmarcus Russell, Joseph Addai, Ally Broussard, Shaun Jordan (FB), Devery Henderson, Dwayne Bowe, Craig Davis,Bennie Brazil, Skyler Green, Eric Edwards, Ben Wilkerson, Nate Livings, Stephen Peterman, Rudy Niswanger, Andrew Whitworth,
Marcus Spears, Marquis Hill, Kirsten Pittman, Chad Lavalais, Kyle Williams, Melvin Oliver, Eric Alexander Adrian Mayes, LeRon Landry, Corey Webster, Randel Gay, Ronnie Prude, Travis Daniels, Johnathon Zenon,....
That was like an all star team, a super star team of under rated talent by the recruit ranking system.
