Surely Nick's minions are pressing this point. I know Aranda is under contract. But, until he actually signs an extension or Texas names their DC, it's still a question.

He could bolt on the original contract. It would be severely unscrupulous to sign a new deal today and bolt to Texas next month- won't happen.

A signature soon is key, despite ongoing rationalization.

You'll have to ask the recruits that he's been visiting with this week.

He is already under contract. He hasn't officially signed the extension.

Bigger question is why isn't it signed. I believe he's staying but nobody can say they don't find it a tad odd.

He is working under his Original Contract and I would think if he wants his Paycheck to go up he will sign the new Contract for more Money.

Aranda was making 500,000 at Wisconsin.

The next year he moved to LSU and made 1.5 million and got to have much better talent.

The year he will become the Associate Head coach of LSU and be the highest paid assistant in all of college football....

What logical sense would it make for him to go to Texas? I get the freind aspect. That was also years ago they lived together. Texas does not have and has not been able to get the same defensive talent in a decade. I just don't see why he would move to Texas to have less talent and a harder job. I have friends also, but when it comes to money and career, my old college buddies don't factor into my decisions. I wouldn't think they would factor into his as well.

I've also read stories that since Arandas days at Texas Tech he doesn't want to go back to the Big 12. If he wants a NFL dc job, what's the better path. A few more great years at LSU or move to the defensive purgatory of the Big 12.

Aranda is currently under a signed contract. This is a new contract which improve his terms if employment. Lawyers do this work and it takes time to finalize.

Calm down

If Dave Aranda is recruiting them, in person, do you think "they" think he will not be their coach? How do you know he has not signed it, and it's awaiting legal formalization?

So to answer your question, NOOOOOOOOOO!

You are not a very bright person are you? Until the ink dries nothing is done. I do believe Aranda is not the kind of guy to agree to a deal and then back out before he signs the deal.

Having said that I can also say I am now getting officially worried. The hold up if you believe the press clippings is that Aranda's lawyers have to go over the contract. Having dealt with dozens of lawyers in my career I can promise you with a document this important it DOESN'T TAKE 5 DAYS to review a contract and makes changes. This should have been done within 48 hours AT MOST!!!!

So something is holding this up and it ain't from the LSU side you best believe that. If this doesn't get done by tomorrow then official meltdown mode can begin. No way in hell a contract of this importance takes 5 business days to get signed NO WAY!!!!!

I've done it many of times but there are a million reasons to leave LSU for Texas. Not gonna list them but they are way better reasons that what you listed as to why he wouldn't go.

Exactly. Let's ignore the fact that Aranda is still under contract for 2 more years.

Your 1,000% wrong! Unless Aranda is working with an attorney that is a one man shop type of thing - which he has an agent so that theory is blown right out of the water - it doesn't take 5 days to review a contract and make changes. Understand most of these attorney's in this field deal with contractual issues all the time so this is second nature to them. Already being employed at LSU means most of the codicils in the contract are going to be the same there will be added codicils for his new position "associate head coach" but other than numbers they shouldn't be that much different.

No I can promise you from dealing with dozens of lawyers and contracts in my career, something isn't right here it shouldn't be stretched out like this, unless the attorney looking over the contracts is not up to speed with contractual law, which I highly doubt that. No if this contract doesn't get signed by tomorrow "which I believe it will be signed by tomorrow" then you can officially start to get worried because something is happening that we don't know about.

I wish! No I don't but if I have experience in something I am going to try and add value to a conversation. I have experience with contracts and lawyers having sold two business and retired by the age of 45. So if you don't want to listen then don't, I am good with it!

the Dudebro comes from, that is all I hear at my beach house - Hey Dude, Hey Bro so it is a play on it, if you would like to know.

So he couldn't go to Texas after signing an extension but he could leave under his current contract? Really? Do you think, given the high demand for Aranda's service that he would sign an extension that was more restrictive?
